Two Republican Senators in Georgia, both headed to their own run-off elections in January, released a statement Monday calling for the resignation of the state’s Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, who is also a Republican.Without specific details or evidence, the statement from the senators says Raffensperger is responsible for “failures” in the election process.“The management of Georgia elections has become an embarrassment for our state. Unions representing about 35,000 Disney World workers say Disney is refusing to pay their members ,000 tax cut bonuses.Disney announced the ,000 bonuses last month for 125,000 U.S. employees. The company said at that time that the bonuses would go to full and part-time employees, including those represented by unions "currently working under existing union contracts."But the union members at Disney World are in the midst of contract negotiations. They say rank-and-file workers in December voted 93% against Disney's most recent offer of a 50-cent-an-hour raise over the next two years, coupled with a 0 signing bonus. Most unionized Disney World employees make less than an hour, according to the union.Only 3,000 make more than an hour. The union says the average hourly wage for its members is .71.Eric Clinton, president of the Unite Here local at the theme park, said Disney is forcing the union to accept that same rejected offer for its members to receive the ,000 bonus due to other Disney employees."In other words Disney said you can have ,000 if you agree to stay poor," he said in a video statement posted on the union's Facebook page. "Disney is discriminating against us for having a union locked in negotiations. Let us be clear, Disney cast members deserve a living wage. Vaccine maker Pfizer says it’s already in regular communication with President-elect Joe Biden's transition team as part of ongoing efforts to keep all interested parties updated on its coronavirus vaccine and its distribution.Spokeswoman Sharon Castillo says, “There is no room for politics in this process.”Last Sunday, Biden chief of staff Ron Klain said the transition team planned to meet with Pfizer and other vaccine makers, as President Donald Trump continues to stall the formal transition process to a new administration.Castillo said Wednesday that Pfizer maintains ongoing communication with the Trump administration, governors and leading lawmakers of both political parties in Congress. The Biden team is part of that effort.Castillo says Pfizer is "communicating with both sides" during the transition.There’s no word yet on a formal meeting between Biden and the pharmaceutical chiefs. 909

United Airlines is looking to add flights to their schedule in October, including resuming previously canceled trips and adding new ones.According to the airline, this will bring them up to flying 40 percent of their full schedule in October compared to October 2019. In September, they are only expecting to fly 34 percent of their full schedule.The news comes a week after the airline announced it will furlough more than 16,000 employees in October. That’s when federal bailout money from the federal government expires.The resumed flights include eight routes to Hawaii, “pending approval of the state’s pre-arrival COVID testing program.” Hawaii recently extended their out-of-state visitors ban to October 1. Once they allow visitors and tourists again, travelers must fill out a “safe travels” form and go through pandemic screening measures."We continue to be data-driven and realistic in our approach to rebuilding our network," Ankit Gupta, United's vice president of Domestic Network Planning said in a press release. "Because October is typically a slower month for leisure travel, we're adjusting our schedules to reflect these seasonal changes in customer demand while resuming service or adding capacity on routes where we're seeing increased customer demand for travel."Some of those “data-driven” decisions may have led United to realign their schedule to match “current demand for leisure travel.” The airline says in October they will add more flights on days popular with leisure travelers looking for a long weekend getaway, and will schedule fewer flights on days where demand is lower.Other changes and additions in October include:Resuming or starting new service on nearly 50 routes in the US; mostly from United’s hubs in Chicago, Denver and Houston.Resuming additional service to Florida and along the west coast.Resuming service to 14 international destinations, including parts of South America and Mexico.United was one of the airlines last week who announced they will be permanently eliminating change fees on flights within the US.
