(KGTV) — Video showed a female duo running from an East County home carrying items, as a helpless homeowner who watched it all unfold on his doorbell camera.At 6 p.m. Thursday, a woman is seen walking up to the front door and appears to be looking for something. Eventually, she wanders to the back of the home, and that's when a loud sound is heard. That sound is believed to the sound of a screen being torn off and a back window being forced open. Don says watching on a Ring camera app was the homeowner, his father, who was out of town with his mother in Missouri. His dad then triggered the alarm and watched as the woman holding several items got into a car in the driveway. Moments later, another woman carrying a box stuffed with items jumped into the same car."I think he started to panic. He's not there and somebody's in the house," said Don.The homeowner is heard asking through speaker "Who are you? Who are you?" before the women drive off."They called me in a panic. They didn't have number for local sheriff," said Don. He called 9-1-1 and deputies arrived minutes later. But the women were long gone. According to the video, they weren't in the home long."In a seven-minute time frame, they went through literally every drawer in the house," said Don.Stolen from the home: A coin collection and dozens of pieces of jewelry belonging to his father and mother. One year after the Lancaster District Medical Director denied 13-year-old Trista Blasz the chance to wrestle on the JV team, writing "girls don't play boys sports in Lancaster Schools," Trista has won dozens of tournaments and competitions."It’s been like all wrestling. Non-stop wrestling," Trista said, "I’ve gotten first at like all of them. And just been like undefeated in like all of them. I think I’ve only lost a couple times at them." The Lancaster 8th grader has been traveling around the country competing in tournaments against both girls and boys.11-year-old Max McCarthy has witnessed Trista's success for five years. They have wrestled together at the Bison Wrestling Club for years. This year, Trista's mom Danielle Blasz said it's a much easier process to have Trista evaluated to play on the high school boys team."They said she doesn’t have to take her APP test because her score was amazing last year. LIMA, Peru (AP) — Archaeologists in northern Peru say they have found evidence of what could be the world's largest single case of child sacrifice.The pre-Columbian burial site, known as Las Llamas, contains the skeletons of 140 children who were between the ages of five and 14 when they were ritually sacrificed during a ceremony about 550 years ago, experts who led the excavation told The Associated Press on Friday.The site, located near the modern day city of Trujillo, also contained the remains of 200 young llamas apparently sacrificed on the same day.The burial site was apparently built by the ancient Chimu empire. It is thought the children were sacrificed as floods caused by the El Nino weather pattern ravaged the Peruvian coastline."They were possibly offering the gods the most important thing they had as a society, and the most important thing is children because they represent the future," said Gabriel Prieto, an archaeology professor at Peru's National University of Trujillo, who has led the excavation, along with John Verano of Tulane University."Llamas were also very important because these people had no other beasts of burden, they were a fundamental part of the economy," Prieto said, adding that the children were buried facing the sea, while the llamas faced the Andes Mountains to the east.Excavation work at the burial site started in 2011, but news of the findings was first published on Thursday by National Geographic, which helped finance the investigation.Prieto said that besides the bones, researchers also found footprints that have survived rain and erosion. The small footprints indicate the children were marched to their deaths from Chan Chan, an ancient city a mile away from Las Llamas, he said.Verano said the children's skeletons contained lesions on their breastbones, which were probably made by a ceremonial knife. Dislocated ribcages suggest that whoever was performing the sacrifices may have been trying to extract the children's hearts.Jeffrey Quilter, the director of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology at Harvard University, described it as a "remarkable discovery."In an email, Quilter told the AP the site provides "concrete evidence" that large scale sacrifices of children occurred in ancient Peru."Reports of very large sacrifices are known from other parts of the world, but it is difficult to know if the numbers are exaggerated or not," Quilter wrote.Quilter is heading a team of scientists who will analyze DNA samples from the children's remains to see if they were related and figure out which areas of the Chimu empire the sacrificed youth came from.Several ancient cultures in the Americas practiced human sacrifices including the Mayans, the Aztecs and the Incas, who conquered the Chimu empire in the late 15th century. But the mass sacrifice of children is something that has rarely been documented.The Las Llamas site is located in a shantytown, and has been fenced off to stop illegal developers from building homes on it.Prieto says the site shows how in Peru history can be just around the corner."This site surrounded by houses in a working class neighborhood can tell us a lot about a macabre event that is perhaps one of the darkest moments in our history," Prieto said. (KGTV) - Dr. Greg Skomal and Meteorologist Joe Merchant are working together as they test a new theory on how sea breeze may correlate with set off a predatory chain reaction.So far their research has taken them to the Bahamas and Cape Cod, both locations on the East Coast, given several recent attacks. Skomal says, "It could be weather conditions it could be water temperature so were testing all these various factors to see if there's any patterns including Joe's ideas that drive the behavior of these sharks." Merchant believes a weather condition called a sea breeze may set off a predatory chain reaction. He says it brings nutrient rich deep water closer to the surface, attracting tiny marine life, which attracts larger fish and in turn attract the oceans largest predators, sharks. Fisheries Research Biologist Heidi Dewar tells 10News, "On the East Coast you have the warm Gulf Stream that moves broad on a continental shelf and our coast we have a cold current coming from the north and a very narrow continental shelf." For this reason, we may not be able to use the same theory for our coast."It's not clear that would translate to the West Coast; we have a very different ecosystem over here," Dewar tells 10News. Dewar says pinpointing sharks' locations and predicting where they will be next is going to require much more data and research. But, this has many people wondering if the new version will cause more vehicle break-ins.
