BEIJING, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The 4th China International Private Equity Forum saw contractual agreements worth 15.5 billion yuan signed, before it closed in north China's Tianjin Municipality Saturday.The forum, which aimed at providing introduction services between investors and enterprises, attracted 729 private equity funds from 36 countries and regions.

"The rest of the relief supplies will be delivered on Aug. 20.""The Chinese government will continue to do what it can to provide assistance to Pakistan in the light of the developments of the disaster," he said.Immediately after the flooding occurred, "China acted promptly to provide humanitarian support and assistance to Pakistan, showing the profound friendship between the Chinese and Pakistani governments and people," he noted.

BEIJING, June 16 (Xinhua) -- The fifth chartered flight sent by the Chinese government brought 185 more nationals back home from Kyrgyzstan on Wednesday morning, sources with the Foreign Ministry said.The flight arrived at an airport in Urumqi, capital of northwestern Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, at 7:17 a.m. (Beijing time) from Osh of Kyrgyzstan, where ethnic clashes have left some 170 people dead. Chinese nationals prepare to board the chartered flight at an airport in Osh, southern Kyrgyzstan, June 15, 2010.The Chinese government has sent five chartered planes to bring home nationals including business people and students in Kyrgyzstan. So far 754 Chinese nationals have been taken home.More chartered planes are to be sent to take Chinese nationals back home, according to the ministry.

  

CHANGCHUN, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Floods have left 63 people dead and 59 missing in northeast China's Jilin Province over the past two months, local authorities said Monday.More than 4 million people have been affected since the flood season began in June and some 700,000 people have been evacuated, the Jilin Provincial Civil Affairs Department said in a statement.Additionally, about 62,000 houses have collapsed and 193,000 others have been damaged, along with 1.16 million hectares of cropland having been inundated, the statement said.Direct economic losses were estimated at almost 19 billion yuan (2.8 billion U.S. dollars), it added.In the hardest-hit areas, flash floods have cut roads, isolated villages and disrupted communications and water supplies.In the industrial city of Tonghua, torrential rains have damaged water pipelines, leaving 300,000 people without tap water for two days.Residents have largely relied on bottled water over the past 48 hours as authorities ordered 25 fire trucks to deliver water for domestic purposes aside from drinking to residential communities from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday.About 1,700 tons of water had been delivered by truck, officials said.
