SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for an at-risk missing man who disappeared from downtown Saturday morning. According to police, 57-year-old William Groves was last seen at the corner of 7th Avenue and A street around 10:25 a.m. Saturday. Groves suffers from seizures and has short-term memory loss due to a traumatic brain injury. Police say Groves is also a dependent adult with no money or medication and is visiting San Diego from Hawaii with his mother. According to police, Groves is known to be friendly and talkative. He is described as five feet, five inches tall with brown eyes, gray and black hair and light skin. Groves was last seen wearing a yellow t-shirt with checkered shorts and a black eye patch. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for an 18-year-old at-risk woman who disappeared from her Barrio Logan home on Sunday.Police say Kaedyn Carmon was last seen leaving her home at about 5:50 p.m. She left on foot in an unknown direction after an argument.Carmon is diagnosed with Autism with the mental capacity of a 9- to 11-year-old, police added.She's described as a black/white female with black hair and brown eyes, and about 5-feet, 3-inches tall and 260 pounds. She was last seen wearing a maroon tank top shirt, pink shorts, and pink Croc shoes.Any with information on Carmon's whereabouts is asked to call SDPD at 619-531-2000. 659

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County officials urged people across the county to cooperate with the latest public health orders and purple tier restrictions Monday.The county broke its record for the highest single-day COVID-19 cases reported on Sunday at 1,087. The second highest day was reported Monday with 833 new cases.During an emergency briefing, county officials said too many people fail to take the proper measures to slow the spread.“It is really about wearing facial coverings, and the social distancing, and staying home when you are sick,” said Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer.“As we go into the Thanksgiving holiday, we know that people want to get together, but I encourage you to follow the guidance that we have posted on our website, that the state, as well as the CDC, are recommending. Really limit your engagements or gatherings over the holidays. Follow the guidance from the state, no more than three households. I would strongly encourage you not to travel out of state.”County Supervisor Greg Cox said cease and desist letters were sent to several businesses and entities that refused to follow the purple tier closure orders over the weekend.Wooten recently asked law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement efforts in their jurisdictions; Supervisor Cox sent similar letters Friday.“On Friday, I sent a letter to all the mayors in our region to have them step up enforcement of state and local public health orders. And our regional compliance team is moving forward on complaints we are receiving, we need your cooperation, and we certainly need your compliance,” said Cox. “If not, we are fully prepared to enforce compliance with our local law enforcement agencies and other jurisdictions.”“You can be open, and you can be safe. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County reported a record new 1,802 coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the region's total to 78,159 cases thus far.The new cases resulted in an 8% positive rate out of 21,671 reported tests for the county's daily tally. No new deaths were reported on Friday, as the death toll sits at 996.The new case totals come as public and federal health officials urge the public to keep gatherings limited and small this Thanksgiving and not to travel.Hospitalizations in the county remained at 580 on Friday, while ICU cases rose slightly from 166 to 173 — both of which have nearly doubled since a month earlier, according to the county's data.There were 82 community outbreaks in San Diego County as of Friday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police Monday identified a shooting victim found in Sherman Heights following a crash.According to police, 25-year-old Jose Alberto Ortiz died after officers found him with gunshot wounds on October 22 near 27th Street and K Street.Police responded to the area after receiving reports of a crash. After responding, police say they found a dark sedan that collided with a parked vehicle.“Upon contacting the driver, they saw that he had sustained trauma that was not consistent with a traffic collision and suspected the male had been shot,” police said.The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.
