SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Recent rains have caused sewage-contaminated runoff to enter ocean water along Imperial Beach, San Diego County health officials announced Friday.An existing water contact closure of the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge coastline has been expanded to include all of Imperial Beach's coast, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health.Due to recent rainfall, county health officials said sewage-contaminated runoff from the Tijuana River entered the Tijuana Estuary. Water samples and observations caused officials to believe the contamination has reached ocean water in the South Bay.Signs and warnings have been placed in the area until water samples indicate the ocean is safe for recreational use once again.RELATED COVERAGE: 792

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Rep. Duncan Hunter's opponent, Ammar Campa-Najjar, spoke out Tuesday about the indictment against the congressman. “Now is the time to put country over party,” Campa said in a brief video posted on YouTube. Campa continued by adding that Hunter "is in it for himself." In the June Primary, Hunter finished with 49 percent of the vote with Campa gaining 16 percent. Political Consultant Laura Fink told 10News Tuesday night that a more recent generic ballot showed the to candidates "neck-and-neck." SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego firefighters came to the rescue of a Mountain View family after they lost their home to a fire the day after Christmas.The fire left seven people displaced after tearing through the home just after 3:30 a.m. Saturday on Teak Street near Ocean View Boulevard. The fire burned through one of two homes on the lot and the family says they had to pull bars off the window to escape the fire, leaving four people injured.While crews responded and were able to get the fire quickly under control, the family lost everything — including Christmas presents that two little girls who lived in the burned home had unwrapped just one day earlier.That's when San Diego Fire-Rescue stepped in. Sunday, firefighters from Stations 12 and 19 delivered gift cards, toys, and clothing to help the family through their loss. "The gifts were courtesy of the San Diego City Fire Fighters Local 145. The family was very appreciative of this wonderful surprise that illustrates the generous spirit of the holiday season," the department said on social media.The family has also started a GoFundMe to help with expenses due to the fire. 1149

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Ralphs grocery stores are extending their hours to help seniors and provide greater flexibility for the general public, according to Director of Corporate Affairs John Votava.All stores will open at 6 a.m. - 7:30 a.m. for shoppers 60 years and older. "They're the most vulnerable population out there today, so we want to make sure they have time to come into our stores and shop uninhibited," Votava said.Locations will remain open to the public until at least 10 p.m., some will stay open later.Ralphs is also offering free pharmacy delivery for most locations and free pickup service for most grocery orders. Families took advantage of the pickup service Sunday at the Ralphs in Mission Valley. "I think it's going to make people feel comfortable shopping in a different way. If you can order online or call it in for sure," Tim Earp said through a mask.Votava said they're working on other safety features to protect customers and their employees. Plexiglass will be installed next week at checkout counters, and decals are already on the floor to encourage social distancing at checkout.Votava also said employees are allowed to wear masks and gloves while they work.He does have one request for anyone in the store, "if you see a senior who is shopping throughout the day, please let them cut to the front of the line so they can get in and out of the store safely."Votava said this is the new normal for now, and the store hours will reflect that indefinitely. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for an 18-year-old at-risk woman who disappeared from her Barrio Logan home on Sunday.Police say Kaedyn Carmon was last seen leaving her home at about 5:50 p.m. She left on foot in an unknown direction after an argument.Carmon is diagnosed with Autism with the mental capacity of a 9- to 11-year-old, police added.She's described as a black/white female with black hair and brown eyes, and about 5-feet, 3-inches tall and 260 pounds.
