WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration has sued former national security adviser John Bolton to block the publication of a book that the White House says contains classified information. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, follows warnings from President Donald Trump that Bolton could face a “criminal problem” if he doesn’t halt plans to publish the book. The administration has also said the former adviser did not complete a pre-publication review to ensure that the manuscript did not contain classified material. The suit asks a judge to direct Bolton to notify his publisher that he was not authorized to release “The Room Where It Happened,” to further delay the release date of the book, and to instruct the publisher to take any and all steps to retrieve and dispose of any copies of the book that may be in the possession of any third party. The complaint also asks a judge to order that “all monies, gains, profits, royalties and other advantages” that Bolton and his agents receive from the book be placed in a “constructive trust for the benefit of the United States.Bolton’s attorney, Chuck Cooper, has said Bolton worked for months with classification specialists to avoid releasing classified material.Cooper has accused the White House of using national security information as a pretext to censor Bolton. As of Tuesday, Amazon listed the book as being released next week, on June 23. 1449

Were you able to take your planned summer vacation in 2020? If so, consider yourself lucky.According to a survey commissioned by Lending Tree and conducted by Value Penguin, 72% of Americans did not take a summer vacation this summer. Of those that did, 71% opted to travel by car instead of plane. With most Americans not traveling in 2020, the use of paid time off from work also declined. The survey found that 44% of Americans did not use any paid time off this summer, with an additional 22% saying they took less time off than usual. The survey found that men along with younger and middle-aged Americans were more likely to travel. Just 13% of baby boomers and 9% of silent generation members traveled this summer.“Women tend to be more cautious than men in many ways, so I’m not surprised they might be more reluctant to go on vacation,” said Matt Schulz, chief credit analyst at LendingTreeFor some Americans, nearly 20%, the summer was considered not too different than other summers.Finances also seemingly played a role in who traveled, as 52% of households earning over 0,000 a year traveled this summer compared to just 15% of households making less than ,000 a year.To read the full study, click here. 1228

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — An 8-year-old has gone above and beyond this holiday season.Aiden Foster didn’t give up until a West Palm Beach woman found her cat which ran away weeks ago.The past 10 years Ashley Goldstein and her furry friend, Tobin, have been inseparable. But just days after they settled into a new home, Tobin disappeared.“I was desperate to find him. I put flyers up,”Goldstein said. She searched for several days which then turned into weeks, still no sign of Tobin.“Honestly I thought I was never going to see him again. WASHINGTON, D.C. – Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is calling on the Republican leadership to work with Democrats to raise the dollar amount of the direct payments in the relief package after President Donald Trump threatened to sink the bill without the increase Tuesday night.Pelosi said in a letter to House Democrats on Wednesday that she will go to the floor and ask for unanimous consent to bring a standalone bill that would increase the individual payments from 0 to ,000, which Trump requested in a video released on Twitter. To do so requires the agreement of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the same would also need to be done in the Senate.“If the president truly wants to join us in ,000 payments, he should call upon Leader McCarthy to agree to our unanimous consent request,” wrote Pelosi. The House is scheduled to go in for a pro forma session Thursday. If McCarthy agrees to the unanimous consent request, Pelosi tweeted, “This can be done by noon on Christmas Eve.”Mr. President, sign the bill to keep government open! Urge McConnell and McCarthy to agree with the Democratic unanimous consent request for ,000 direct payments! This can be done by noon on Christmas Eve!— Nancy Pelosi (@SpeakerPelosi) December 23, 2020 Throughout the long negotiations over the COVID-19 relief bill, Democrats advocated for higher amounts of direct payments, but Pelosi says the GOP would never go above 0 and some cases, they proposed 0.Trump’s request came as a surprise to Democrats, but they’re hoping to get the increase in funds approved as soon as possible. Along with the 0 billion in relief, the bill also includes government funding, which will need to be approved by Trump by Monday to avoid a shutdown.“The entire country knows that it is urgent for the president to sign this bill, both to provide the coronavirus relief and to keep government open,” said Pelosi. However, even if Trump does decide to veto the bill that was passed by both the House and Senate on Monday, the legislation was cleared by lopsided votes in both chambers, so Congress could override it. 2116
