(KGTV) — A Riverside County man who tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a party warned others considering gatherings the day before he died.Thomas Macias attended a barbecue in June in Lake Elsinore, where he was exposed to another person who later said they knowingly had coronavirus but never told anyone, according to Los Angeles ABC-affiliate KABC.Shortly after the party, Macias started feeling sick and posted a warning to others on Facebook, his family told CNN."I went out a couple of weeks ago ... because of my stupidity I put my mom and sisters and my family's health in jeopardy," Macias wrote. "This has been a very painful experience. This is no joke. If you have to go out, wear a mask, and practice social distancing. ... Hopefully with God's help, I'll be able to survive this."Macias died the day after posting the warning. The 51-year-old suffered from diabetes, one of the underlying conditions health experts warn make some individuals especially vulnerable to COVID-19.A friend who was also at the party notified Macias that he had coronavirus and he was aware of the positive diagnosis when he attended the gathering. The friend thought he couldn't infect anyone because he had no symptoms, a family member told CNN.It wasn't clear if anyone was social distancing or wearing facial coverings at the party. LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities are looking for help identifying a man they say pointed a finger at a 7-Eleven clerk and demanded cash early Wednesday before leaving empty handed.It happened around 2 a.m. at the store located on Bonita Beach Road near Imperial Shores Boulevard.According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the man walked into the store with a red shirt covering his face, and approached the clerk with a pointed finger.  The man demanded all the cash from the register, but the clerk refused and the man left the store.He was seen riding a white bicycle north on Imperial Shores Boulevard.The man is described as being in his early 20s, approximately 5 foot 8 inches and weighing 165 pounds.  748

Las Vegas police said Monday the MS-13 gang has been responsible for 10 murders in the past year in Southern Nevada. Police said five suspects, including one juvenile, have been arrested in the murders after the last one occurred on March 2. The first one occurred in March of last year. The murders were linked through forensic evidence. The victims died of shooting and stabbing injuries. Six of the 10 victims were kidnapped before police said they were murdered on the outskirts of town. Sheriff Joe Lombardo called the suspects "extremely violent."The discovery of two bodies at Frenchman Mountain within a short period of time helped tip police off after the body was determined to be a MS-13 gang member. The victims have been identified as Daniel Clark, Richard Gaudio, Carlos Pachaca-Rodriguez, Arquimidez Sandoval-Martinez, Juan Carlos Estrada Raya, Jose Hernandez, Ricardo Olivas, Izzak Towery, Earl Ryan and Rony Fuentes.In addition to the ones near Frenchman Mountain, three of the murders occurred near Mount Charleston, while others occurred near Arville Street and Oakey Boulevard, Bonanza and Sandhill roads, Charleston and Nellis boulevards and Charleston Boulevard and Palm Street. 1248

(KGTV) — It took a true team effort to help disentangle a humpback whale spotted off La Jolla's coast this week.SeaWorld says the 35-foot whale was reported late Thursday by local birdwatcher Gary Nunn as its swam near shore. Rescue team members traveled about one mile out from Scripps Pier on Friday to find the animal tangled in about 900 feet of rope and weighed down by six fishing traps called pots.SeaWorld rescuers spent four hours cutting the whale free. A local fishing vessel — called McGhee Marie — helped haul the gear away. LAKE CLARKE SHORES, Fla. — A Florida family is securing their home after two of their cats were shot in the back with a pellet gun, forcing them to be euthanized. Police are looking for whoever is responsible. First, it was Peanut, a black kitten, and then Fritz, a 4-year-old white and orange cat back in March and April, respectively.They came home to their owner, Debbie Hiatt, with a wound in their back and their hind legs dragging back in the spring. “The biggest thing for me was just wanting to find someplace else to live. Because I don’t trust anyone,” Hiatt said in an interview. In X-rays, you can see a single pellet lodged in each one of their spines A veterinarian would have no choice but to put them down. Peanut was the hardest. “His front was so full of life but nothing in the back. Even Fritz was hard, but the baby? It was a lot harder with the baby,” Hiatt said. Since then, taking no chances, she and her husband John had cameras installed around their home and secured their back porch for their remaining cats and dogs. She says six other cats have inexplicably gone missing over the last year. “It’s not fair to the animals. They don’t know. And what they could have done is come to me and said 'hey, keep your animals out of my yard.' And then at that point in time, we would have done this probably a lot sooner. And then I would have still have Peanut. And Fritz,” she said. Lake Clark Shores police say they have identified a person of interest but haven’t made an arrest yet.“Catch the person. I’m going to catch the person either doing it to another animal. Hopefully not any of mine. But eventually, they’ll get caught,” Hiatt said.  1735
