(KGTV) - A Ramona couple walking their yellow Labrador puppy say they were attacked by two pit bulls Tuesday night, suffering serious injuries.Michael Dougherty was walking with his wife, Dee, in the Kmart parking lot in the 1800 block of Main Street training their puppy, Rueger. Dougherty said it's easier in the parking lot, as there is more light, compared to their rural neighborhood.As they walked toward the Taco Shop, around 7:15 p.m., Dougherty said from the corner of his eye, he saw two pit bulls charging.RELATED: Dog and owner mauled by pit bull during walk in OceansideThey attacked Rueger and his wife, who went down trying to rescue the dog. Dougherty is recovering from a back injury and walks with a cane. He used it as a weapon."I just started beating the dog, beating the dog, until it [the cane] snapped. This fell down alongside the dog and my wife and she grabbed this and was jamming it into the dog's mouth. When this broke I started punching the dog in the head."Eventually they were able to separate all three dogs. No one escaped uninjured. Dougherty described his wife's wounds, "the top fang went in," gesturing at his left cheek, "and the bottom fang went under her chin like this."RELATED: Pit bull comes to defense of injured owner in apartment, chases away attackers"Both arms are bitten up quite a bit, I couldn't even count them there were so many," he continued, saying her hand bore the worst injury. "Her thumb was bitten three quarters of the way around," saying the skin had been pushed up, away from her hand. REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A sea lion is resting after being rescued from a parking structure in Redwood Monday. According to the Redwood City Fire Department, the sea lion was rescued from a parking structure. The 5-month-old pup, named Santos by the department, made it back to the fire station where he posed for pictures before taking a nap. Ray Szmanda, known to generations of Americans as the man who brought Menards commercials to life, has died at age 91.Szmanda passed away at his home in Antigo on Sunday, May 6, according to an obituary posted to Bradley Funeral Home & Crematory's website.Szmanda worked in T.V. and radio in the 1950s and operated a broadcast school in Waukesha, Wisconsin until the late 1970s, when he joined Menards as a pitchman. After a successful run, Szmanda retired as the spokesman in 1998.Menards released a statement about the loss of their beloved spokesman:"Ray Szmanda remained a steady fixture in our advertising for nearly a quarter century  until his retirement in 1998.  Still to this day, Ray’s friendly, enthusiastic and fun loving personality have made a lasting impression on our customers and all of us at Menards. We are saddened by his passing and our thoughts and prayers are with Ray’s family, friends and the millions of people who knew him as ‘The Menards Guy.'"His countless commercial appearances over the decades, as well as his distinctive voice, endeared Szmanda to many across the years."I'm having a ball; I love what I do, and I think as long as I feel that way, that message gets across on television," Szmanda once said, according to his official biography on the Menards website.Szmanda graduated from Milwaukee's Bay View High School in 1944. In 1970 he founded the Transamerica School of Broadcasting in Wausau, helping local talent to achieve their dreams, and preparing them for the airwaves. President Donald Trump tweeted on Friday that he has signed an executive order calling for stiff punishment against those who damage statues and monuments.The order comes days after protesters attempted to topple a statue of President Andrew Jackson from Lafayette Park near the White House. Dozens of officers moved in to push the protesters back.In recent weeks, there have been calls from supporters of the Black Lives Matter movement to remove statues and monuments of those tied to slavery and the Confederacy. Those calls have been met with swift opposition from Trump and fellow Republican leaders.But the movement has found support from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Califfornia, who has asked for 11 statues in the Capitol of Confederate leaders being removed from the complex. “We are looking at long-term jail sentences for these vandals and these hoodlums and these anarchists and agitators,” Trump said earlier this week.Trump later added in an interview with Fox News, “We should learn from the history. And if you don’t understand your history, you will go back to it again."“I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues - and combatting recent Criminal Violence. Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!” Trump tweeted late Friday.The executive order calls for federal laws to be used to arrest those who topple statues and monuments, but it's unclear how the order will be largely enforced across the country.
