Police say Faraj was already in prison for an unrelated charges. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The second phase of the San Diego's styrofoam ban went into effect Friday. Local restaurants are ditching styrofoam for environmentally friendly products. Customers will see more sustainable items made from paper and aluminum. The transition to more sustainable produces also comes with a price. "It's a little more expensive but we understand why we have to do it," said Maggie Rojas from Giorgino's Cheesesteaks in Golden Hill. "Little by little we started the transition, so we didn't wait until the last minute to do it.""We all care about the environment so we want to help out," said Rojas. "It’s a big problem."There are some exceptions to the rules. Grocery stores will be able to use styrofoam trays for packaging raw meat, fish and poultry through 2021. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - There is a memorial of candles, notes, and flowers along 4th Avenue near Main Street in Chula Vista.They are in memory of 23-year-old Christina Garcia, who was found dead at a nearby field on Aug. 5th. Chula Vista police say they were called out to 3100 block of Main Street after someone found her body. They say she had an apparent gunshot wound and opened a homicide case.“That afternoon, she wanted to see her daughter and pick up the truck, so it was a brief encounter,” her mother, Lisa Garcia, said. “I expected her to come back, and I wish I took advantage of that situation longer.”Lisa says Christina leaves behind a two-year-old daughter.“I think the saddest thing for me is that her daughter is only going to know her through pictures because she’s so young,” She said. “She’s never going to remember her mom’s touch, her kiss, her voice.”Lisa says her daughter was very likable and smart.“She tested out in the 10th grade and started southwestern college and finished her classes there,” Lisa said. She was also a skilled welder and liked working with her hands. Most recently, they bought a home and worked on remodeling it.“She’s very hands-on, like her mom,” Lisa said, “you know, taking the popcorn ceiling down, remodeling the walls.”She says it’s been tough knowing Christina’s killer has not been caught. Lisa says she has many questions and is cannot find any closure without finding answers.“Was she dumped there? Was she shot there? SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The vision of SDSU's future home field is coming into focus after brand new renderings were unveiled Saturday at Aztec Football Fan Fest.This comes after a November ballot measure to redevelop the SDCCU Stadium site with a professional soccer stadium. It was handily rejected by voters, who favored a competing plan that will include a new stadium for San Diego State University football."We have designed a stadium that works for Aztec football, but it's going to work for soccer, it's going to work for concerts, the concourse was developed in a way that it's going to be able to be used 365 days a year," Athletics Director John David Wicker said.READ RELATED: Sources: SDSU meets with Major League SoccerWhen students saw the new plan, they were ecstatic, "that's so awesome!
