It's part of a plan to redevelop the former 76 gas station at Pearl Street and Eads Avenue in downtown La Jolla, a station infamous for charging among the highest gas prices in the city. The station has been closed for about the last two years."It's a blighted area on Pearl," said developer David Bourne. "It needs to be developed, and I think this is the highest and best use."Bourne is proposing to turn the former station into a mixed-use development that could serve as an example of future transit-oriented projects. The least expensive units will start from ,800 to ,000 a month, with the two bedrooms up to ,800. Plus, two affordable units will rent starting at 5 per month, well below La Jolla's average rent of ,545. "It is intended to showcase the way people are living now," Bourne said. JOSHUA TREE NATIONAL PARK (KGTV) -- After four days alone in the desert, Paul Hanks was found injured - but alive - Thursday night. The 54-year-old went missing while hiking the Maze Loop on Sunday, March 11, The High Desert Star reports. He left San Diego on Sunday, but never checked into his hotel. The Maze Loop is the same trail where the bodies of Rachel Nguyen and Josseph Orbeso were found near last October, nearly three months after they were reported missing in July. Just after 4 p.m. Thursday a member of the Joshua Park Search and Rescue team located Hanks, Gerorge Land, the park's public information officer said in a Facebook video. "It appears he fell about 20 feet," Land said. "He sustained some head injuries, we don't know the exact nature of all of his injuries...but he was conscious, he was talking to rescuers."10News is working to learn more about Hanks' current condition. KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The latest effort to bring the NBA to Kansas City is gaining momentum.With the Toronto Raptors reportedly looking for a temporary home for the upcoming 2020-21 NBA season, Kansas City, Missouri, Mayor Quinton Lucas, congressional leaders on both sides of the state line, and even Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes have joined the push to bring the 2019 NBA champions to the City of Fountains.“I think it is something that Kansas City will shine at,” Lucas said.City officials and local congressional leaders sent a letter to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver offering the T-Mobile Center in downtown KCMO as a temporary home for the Raptors during the 2020-21 season, which is expected to begin in December."Kansas City is well-suited to host the Toronto Raptors for the 2020-2021 NBA season and our dynamic fans would be thrilled to adopt the team as our own," a letter signed by civic leaders.Lucas signed the letter along with U.S. Rep.
