(KGTV) — Life at the Del Mar Fairgrounds could look much different in the future, finding uses for more than horse racing and the county fair.Tuesday night will be the second of three community meetings, in which the fairgrounds will ask the community for input on what the future of the venue should look like.Del Mar Deputy Mayor Terry Gaasterland said the uses can fulfill several regional desires."We also have a responsibility for working with Solana Beach and San Diego and the entire region," Gaasterland said. "How does this fairgrounds meet not just the needs, but the wishes and the wants and the dreams of the San Diego region?"And things are already changing. The Surf Side Race Place is being transformed into an entertainment venue. KAABOO left Del Mar for downtown last year. This year, will be mark the end of fairgrounds gun show. And racing has seen a decline in revenue and attendance."Can the fairgrounds be a leader in doing the racing? DETROIT — Kia is recalling nearly 295,000 vehicles in the U.S. because the engines can stall or catch fire. The recall comes a week after Kia and affiliated Korean automaker Hyundai were fined by the U.S. government for allegedly delaying recalls. The recall covers certain 2012 and 2013 Sorento SUVs, 2012 through 2015 Forte and Forte Koup cars, and 2011 through 2013 Optima Hybrid cars. Also included are 2014 and 2015 Soul SUVs and 2012 Sportage SUVs. Kia says in documents posted Saturday by the U.S. government that no manufacturing defect has been found, but it’s recalling the vehicles to mitigate any risk of fire. DETROIT — At Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Detroit, voters arrived shortly after polls opened ready to vote.However, they were shocked to find out that the precinct wasn't prepared – they had no voting machines.Some voters were turned away while others were unable to vote for an hour and a half. "Someone died so I would have the right to vote."Around 8:30 a.m., workers finally had the machine up and running. DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A substitute bus driver in Lebanon, Indiana was fired last week after the district said she pulled over on the side of the interstate and allowed two strangers onto the bus to scold a child. The incident happened last Wednesday, on I-65 after a student was reportedly making lewd actions toward drivers. A driver then flagged down the bus and the bus driver allowed two people on to scold the student. The two people then got off the bus and back to their vehicles. The Superintendent of Lebanon Community Schools, Dr. Robert Taylor, calls the situation "unacceptable."The bus driver, who has not been named, was immediately fired.Dr. Taylor said she violated every protocol and procedure they have in place. "It's a matter of picking up the radio and instantaneously contacting somebody that could provide help," said Dr. Taylor. "That's exactly what should have been done."The district is working with local police to conduct a full investigation into the situation.   1043
