EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Jurors Wednesday found that an officer in El Cajon acted reasonably when he fatally shot Ugandan Immigrant Alfred Olango. The jury found Richard Gonsalves' actions not negligent 12-0. On September 27, 2016, Olango’s sister called 911 to report that her 38-year-old brother was displaying erratic behavior and walking out into traffic. Two officers arrived and spotted Olango in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant on the 800 block of Broadway, ordering him to remove his hands from his pockets. Olango pulled something out of his pocket officers believed was a gun and, according to police, he assumed “what appeared to be a shooting stance” and made some kind of movement. EL CAJON (CNS) - A 49-year-old man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of fatally shooting a 31-year-old man in an unincorporated area near El Cajon.Daniel Christopher Allen, a resident of that unincorporated area, was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murdering James Owen who also lived in unincorporated El Cajon, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The shooting was reported in the 6000 block of Stallion Oaks Road, southeast of Dehesa Road and northeast of the Sycuan Resort, around 10:30 p.m. Thursday, sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.Before deputies arrived, an acquaintance of Owen drove him about a mile and a half from the shooting scene, Seiver said.Deputies stopped the vehicle on Stallion Oaks near Dehesa and found Owen inside suffering from a gunshot wound. (KGTV) — Three U.S. citizens were arrested and 52 people were taken into custody in two smuggling attempts in the El Centro area early Friday.The first incident occurred just after 5 a.m., according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. A remote video surveillance system reported a stake bed truck and van suspected of smuggling near the border wall west of Mount Signal Road. Agents responded and stopped the truck as it traveled toward Highway 98, but the van continued on, CBP said.The driver of the truck, a 22-year-old U.S. citizen, admitted he was transporting individuals illegally in the rear cargo area of the truck. The truck was carrying 37 people, 36 adult Mexican nationals and one adult Guatemalan national, who were hiding under a black tarp in the truck bed, CBP said.RELATED: Leader of San Diego, Baja California maritime smuggling ring arrestedSoon afterward, the van that agents spotted earlier and followed was stopped.
