Jones, who won eight NBA championships as a Celtics player in the 1960s and two more as the coach of the Celtics team that took the titles in 1984 and '86, has died. He was 88.The Celtics said Jones' family confirmed on Friday that he died at an assisted living facility in Connecticut, where he had been receiving care for Alzheimer's disease for the past few years.In a statement, the Celtics said Jones was both a "fierce competitor and a gentleman.""He made his teammates better, and he got the most out of the players he coached," the Celtics said. "Never one to seek credit, his glory was found in the most fundamental of basketball ideals – being part of a winning team. Russell and Jones also won Olympic gold medals at the 1956 Games in Melbourne while playing basketball on the U.S. team.Jones joined Russell in the NBA when the Celtics drafted Jones in the second round of the 1956 NBA Draft, and they both went on to win eight-straight NBA championships from 1959-66.In 1967, Jones retired, and the Celtics hung his No. 25 from the rafters. After retiring as a player, Jones began coaching, first in college and then joined the Los Angeles Lakers in 1971. Ben & Jerry's is launching a podcast that'll examine the "lesser-known history of racial injustice."On Wednesday, the ice cream company announced that the first 30-minute episode of the 6-part series would premiere Sept. 15.Each episode will delve into a different period in American history and link it to modern-day systemic racism. "'Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism In America' will show the hidden ways legal discrimination and state-sanctioned brutality continued long after slavery ended, profoundly limiting Black Americans' ability to gain access to jobs, housing, education, and health care; or to create and accumulate wealth," the company said in a press release.All the episodes will end with a call-to-action, the company said."Economic and social justice has been a part of Ben & Jerry's mission since our founding 42 years ago," said Jabari Paul, Ben & Jerry's US Activism Manager in the news release. BELTRAMI COUNTY, Minn. – A man who was hunting in northwest Minnesota was shot and killed by another hunter last week.The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Lukas R. Dudley was shot by 33-year-old Rain Stately last Wednesday and it appeared to be an accident.The men were reportedly not hunting together.Around Dusk, Stately told authorities that he saw movement of what he thought was a deer and then fired one round from his rifle.“When he discovered Dudley, he immediately called 911 and is cooperating with the investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.The sheriff’s office says Dudley was not wearing the typical blaze orange or other high-visibility clothing.Dudley was transported to a medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Officials haven’t said where the bullet struck him or at what range.The incident is being investigated by the sheriff’s office, Red Lake Tribal Police Department, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Division of Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. 1027

BRANDON, Fla. -- A Florida woman says someone threw some type of acid on the side of her 2002 Ford Explorer that was parked outside a Kmart in Brandon. Glenda Banfield said she was in the store for about an hour when she came out to find the paint on her car bubbling. "My paint was down to the metal," she said, "I rubbed my hand down over it and it just came off in flakes."Banfield was parked in a disabled parking space in the front row towards the entrance of the store. "I wish I would have just stayed home," said Banfield.Banfield, who lives on disability, is on a fixed-income and took the car in for a repair estimate, "they said it would be at least ,500."  703
