CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A South Bay postal worker has pleaded not guilty to firing pepper spray at a dog. Nestor Medina was charged with three counts of animal cruelty in connection with the encounters 10News first reported in Otay Mesa last March. “It’s heartbreaking,” Alfonso Galindo said. Galindo checked surveillance video of his home on Agosto Street. Cameras recorded a postal carrier walking up to Galindo's mailbox and past the metal front gate. Behind the gate is Pupa, and as the mail carrier places the mail in the mailbox, a cylindrical object is seen in his left hand. At the same time, from another camera, Pupa is seen behind the gate beginning to convulse for several minutes. Galindo said his children, 3-year-old Alfonso Jr. and 1-year-old Regina developed strange respiratory problems after hugging Pupa. "Countless trips to the ER and urgent care, and countless medications," said Galindo. While the most severe symptoms subsided soon after the discovery of the video, Galindo says his children are dealing with sinus issues and his daughter still requires an inhaler.RELATED: More dogs pepper-sprayed by mail carrier?Galindo filed a police report and complaint with the U.S. Postal Service last spring. (KGTV) -- Police arrested a man on suspicion of breaking into a Wells Fargo bank in Chula Vista early Thursday morning.Bank security personnel contacted Chula Vista police at around 2 a.m. after they saw a man break the front window at the branch on 1232 Broadway and enter the business.According to police, security cameras showed the man “going through the drawers behind the counters.”Police surrounded the bank as some officers entered the business. Officers arrested the man, later identified as 25-year-old Rene Torres, without incident.Police said officers at the scene determined Torres “pried open most of the cash drawers but was unable to access the vault or currency storage areas. He did cause a lot of damage to the interior of the building.”ABC 10News learned officers discovered several rolls of coins in the suspect’s backpack that police presumed to be from the bank.Torres was arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked at CVPD headquarters. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - A woman accused of stealing a car containing two young children from outside a Lincoln Park cell phone store and driving to the U.S.-Mexico border, pleaded not guilty today to kidnapping and child abduction charges.RELATED: Police: Woman arrested after stealing car with kids inside, trying to cross border into Mexico?Leslie Esparanza Saenz, 26, was ordered held without bail pending a review hearing next Wednesday.  The father of the 8-year-old girl and 3-year-old boy parked his gold Hyundai Excel outside the Cricket Wireless shop in the 200 block of Euclid Avenue about 12:15 p.m. Monday and went into the business by himself, leaving the vehicle unlocked and its engine running, according to San Diego police.   Moments later, a woman who appeared to be in her late teens got into the car and drove off to the east on Imperial Avenue with the children still inside, Officer Luis Roman said.Police searched for the stolen car and missing children until shortly before 2 p.m., when the Hyundai arrived at the San Ysidro Port of Entry at the southern terminus of Interstate 5.There, federal agents who had gotten a be-on-the-lookout bulletin regarding the auto theft and kidnapping took the driver  - who was later identified as Saenz -- into custody without incident.   Authorities then reunited the children, who had suffered no injuries during the ordeal, with their father and returned his car to him, Roman said.Police have not established a motive for the alleged kidnapping. 1553

(KGTV) - A South Bay dentist is donating his time and services to a local Border Patrol agent with ALS.10News first showed you Jeff Miranda’s fight against his deadly disease earlier this month. Miranda was diagnosed three years ago. He is now in a wheelchair and uses eye gaze technology to communicate.Dr. Alex Liu of the Otay Lakes Dental Group saw the 10News story and decided to help. The family has been patients there for a few years.Dr. Liu will now be providing dental work to the entire family free of charge."We've seen it firsthand the effects that ALS has had not just on Jeffrey, but the family as well," said office manager Pablo Rojas. Liz Miranda told 10News reporter Melissa Mecija this “is above and beyond!”“We are extremely grateful to them as well as you and the Channel 10 news team for all of this support!” Liz wrote. 875

Chinese spacecraft Tiangong-1 is tumbling out of orbit above Earth, and is expected to re-enter Earth's atmosphere uncontrolled this weekend, the European Space Agency said. The spacecraft will re-enter Earth's atmosphere between Saturday morning and Monday morning. Tiangong-1 was at orbit roughly 200 miles above Earth after it launched in 2011. Slight atmospheric drag causes spacecrafts to decay in their altitude. As a result, spacecrafts have to conduct regular ‘reboost maneuvers’ to maintain their orbit, the European Space Agency said. Since December 2015, controllers on the ground have been unable to perform such maneuvers to keep it in orbit. Originally the plan was to control its re-entry to direct the craft into an unpopulated section of Earth. With no one able to control the spacecraft, it will tumble to the Earth somewhere between 43 degrees north and 43 south latitude. While that means much of the United States could be impacted by the falling spacecraft the size of a school bus, the European Space Agency projects that much, but not all, of the craft will break apart in the Earth's atmosphere. “Owing to the geometry of the station’s orbit, we can already exclude the possibility that any fragments will fall over any spot further north than 43oN or further south than 43oS,” says Holger Krag, Head of ESA’s Space Debris Office.The European Space Agency will be providing updates as it better projects when and where the spacecraft tumbles out of space and back to Earth.  1547
