Beverage maker Coca-Cola has slowly been announcing the cancelation of brands over the last few months, this week they officially announced they are cutting the number of brands they offer in half: saying goodbye to 200 brands.Earlier this month, the company announced plans to discontinue Odwalla juices, Zico coconut water, TaB diet soda, Coca-Cola Life, Diet Coke Feisty Cherry, as well as regional brands like Northern Neck Ginger Ale and Delaware Punch.In a statement, the company said reducing their brands by 50 percent will help them focus on its most profitable offerings and new offerings like Topo Chico hard seltzer and AHA flavored sparkling water.In a comment to investors, CEO James Quincey said they had finalized the list of which brands will remain, but he would not give specifics. He did say the "hydration" category, which includes drinks like Dasani water, Powerade, Vitamin Water and Zico, will see more cuts, according to CNN. Zico was already announced as being on the chopping block. "Throughout this year's crisis, our system has remained focused on its beverages for life strategy. We are accelerating our transformation that was already underway, shaping our company to recover faster than the broader economic recovery," said James Quincey, chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company.In addition to cutting brands, the company announced they are changing their company structure that will result in both voluntary and involuntary reductions in staff.Coca-Cola reported a 9 percent decline in net revenues in the third quarter of 2020. 1571
BOSTONIA (CNS) - A 29-year-old woman was killed in a two-car collision in a neighborhood just north of El Cajon Friday, authorities reported.The woman was making a left turn from northbound Peerless Drive onto westbound Pepper Drive in the Bostonia area when her 2000 Chevrolet Malibu was struck broadside by an eastbound 2003 Volkswagen Passat shortly before 7:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.Medics took the mortally injured El Cajon resident to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, CHP public affairs Officer Travis Garrow said.Her name was withheld pending family notification.The driver of the Volkswagen, a 22-year-old El Cajon man, suffered minor injuries in the crash, Garrow said.Investigators were attempting to determine which driver was at fault. 805

Ben & Jerry's is launching a podcast that'll examine the "lesser-known history of racial injustice."On Wednesday, the ice cream company announced that the first 30-minute episode of the 6-part series would premiere Sept. 15.Each episode will delve into a different period in American history and link it to modern-day systemic racism. "'Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism In America' will show the hidden ways legal discrimination and state-sanctioned brutality continued long after slavery ended, profoundly limiting Black Americans' ability to gain access to jobs, housing, education, and health care; or to create and accumulate wealth," the company said in a press release.All the episodes will end with a call-to-action, the company said."Economic and social justice has been a part of Ben & Jerry's mission since our founding 42 years ago," said Jabari Paul, Ben & Jerry's US Activism Manager in the news release. "We now sit at a critical inflection point in our nation's history. If we are to seize the opening that this moment presents, we must be willing to acknowledge the sins of our past so that we move together toward a future of justice and equity."In recent months, the ice cream brand has not shied away from voicing their opposition to racism. BONITA (KGTV) - A Bonita man is seeking the public's help to find the people responsible for ransacking his family home last Tuesday night.Michael Currier grew up on San Miguel Road in Bonita and once you understand his family's history it's easy to see why this home means so much.A couple doors down is where his mother and uncles were raised, at grandpa's house. His mother stayed close to care for grandma who had Alzheimer's and when the house went on the market, Currier and his wife pulled together what they could to keep it in the family.They bought the home in 2013 and have been renovating. He and his wife are now taking care of his mother, who also has Alzheimer's, so they weren't home last Tuesday night.Currier came home Wednesday and found it barren. All the construction tools in each room, gone. Incredibly rare parts he was using to build specialty motorcycles, gone too. Shelves full of black bins barren, with dust outlining where they sat for years."The parts that were stolen are irreplaceable. Those motorcycles, I'll never be able to work on again," Currier said.Currier worked as a contractor to pay for nursing school, and collected tools since he was 15. While he's glad no one was hurt from the break-in, what he lost was more than items on a list."Definitely makes you feel a little uncomfortable in your own house in your own neighborhood which is frustrating especially when you grew up in this area and this has always been a home, a safe place," he said.He filed a report with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and they are looking into the incident.In the meantime, Currier's resorted to hanging signs, with a reward for information, around the neighborhood. 1726
