Coca-Cola said Friday that it would offer buyouts to 4,000 employees as part of corporate restructuring and said that layoffs could be coming in the future.According to a press release, the buyouts will be offered to employees in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico with a hire date "on or before" Sept. 1, 2017. CLEVELAND — Three suspects were arrested after an officer was shot and killed in Cleveland's Stockyard neighborhood Thursday evening.The unidentified suspects was arrested Friday morning.The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. in the 3200 block of West 65th Street near Storer Avenue, police said.The officer, later identified as Det. James Skernivitz, was rushed to MetroHealth Medical Center where he died from his injuries, according to the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association.Police said another person was confirmed dead on the scene but was not a suspect.Skernivitz's identity was held pending the notification of his family, as he is married with children, police said.Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association said Skernivitz has been on the force for "a while," was "well-liked" and was a "good man.""This one hurts," Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association president Jeff Follmer said.Skernivitz was a 25-year veteran of the Cleveland Division of Police, authorities said."We definitely need the prayers of the people in the city. (KGTV) - For the first time, a local coaching legend is speaking out, 5 months after he was banned from the campus of Coronado High.Retired water polo coach Randy Burgess is accused in a complaint of molesting a former middle school student.A mural of Burgess remains over the pool his water polo teams has used during his 3 decades of coaching, which includes nearly 20 section championships for high school boys' and girls' teams. Three of his players have competed in the Olympics.It's a legacy now in danger."My feeling is beyond frustration. A lot of hurtful things have happened," said Burgess.In May, the former middle school student - now 18 - filed a complaint with Coronado unified.In it, the teen claims during the 7th grade while playing for a club polo team that shared the pool with Burgess' teams, Burgess hugged, kissed, and eventually raped the child, in places like bathrooms and Burgess' car.The school district removed Burgess from the classroom in April, before denying the claim in May.Burgess says his attorney learned the District Attorney's office has declined to prosecute, but 10News is still working to confirm that."My immediate response was this was a case of mistaken identity.  My coaching and teaching career never paralleled with this this individual," said Burgess, who denies ever interacting with the student.Burgess tell us he doesn't know why someone would make up such a claim. He's now suing for reinstatement to teach physical education at Coronado High. In 2015, he retired from coaching, but was still mentoring coaches."I've told my children and my athletes: It's not always what happens to you, but how you handle it. I'm trying to live through those words now," said Burgess.It's not the first time Burgess has been named in a complaint.In 1995, a city supervisor sued him and the city of Coronado, claiming Burgess berated his players, made sexually inappropriate statements in front of students and sometimes allowed male swimmers to swim naked.Burgess says that case was settled with a confidentiality clause."I can only repeat to myself that the people who know me, know me, and the others will come up with their own conclusions," said Burgess.In a statement, Coronado Unified declined to discuss personnel matters, but did say "...the District takes such claims very seriously.  When the allegations became known, the District followed policy and protocol by taking immediate action to protect the safety and security of District students and staff ..."10News reached out to the lawyers representing the former student but have yet to hear back. 2638

COACHELLA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Another puppy was discovered in a dumpster at Coachella just weeks after a woman was arrested for reportedly leaving seven puppies in a trash can. According to the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, the puppy was found badly beaten and burned in a dumpster on the 49000 block of Harrison Street around 1 p.m. on May 5. Someone digging through the trash heard the puppy crying and took her to a nearby jewelry store, where she was rushed to an animal hospital. RELATED: Woman arrested after puppies dumped in trash can at Coachella“It appears as if she was burned with a caustic substance, or a metal object like an iron,” the foundation said. The weeks-old puppy also had a portion of her tail cut off and can’t walk due to being beaten. The puppy, whose name is Hope, is currently in intensive care and being monitored 24 hours a day. The foundation is offering a ,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the person responsible. The incident comes after a woman identified as Deborah Sue Culwell, 54, was arrested for reportedly dumping seven puppies in a dumpster at Coachella. The puppies were only about three weeks old. A good Samaritan was able to rescue the puppies, saving their lives. 1246

Costco has updated its COVID-19 face mask policy.The wholesale club said beginning Monday, everyone, excluding children under the age of 2, must wear a face mask or face shield, even those with medical conditions."Members and guests must wear a face mask that covers their mouth and nose at all times. Individuals who are unable to wear a face mask due to a medical condition must wear a face shield. Children under the age of 2 are exempt. Entry to Costco will be granted only to those wearing a face mask or face shield," Costco stated on its Updates and Coronavirus Response page.The original policy, which went into effect in May, didn't require those with a medical condition to wear a mask.In a letter to members, President and CEO Craig Jelinek said that although some might see the updated policy may be inconvenient, its shoppers' safety is worth the inconvenience."Our goal is to continue to provide a safe shopping environment for our members and guests, and to provide a safe work environment for our employees," Jelinek said in the letter.Costco added that for those who cannot wear a mask or shield, delivery options are available on its website. 1168
