BEIJING, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese lawmakers on Monday began reviewing a draft law on soil pollution prevention and control, as the country has escalated its fight against pollution.
The campaign to prevent and control pollution, another major battle for the country, has also made notable progress. During the first eight months of the year, good air quality days accounted for nearly 80 percent in 338 Chinese cities, while PM 2.5 density dropped by 7.1 percent.
Speaking at a plenary meeting of the First Committee of the UN General Assembly, Fu Cong, head of the Department of Arms Control of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said multilateralism remains an effective approach to dealing with common challenges and resolving international disputes.
A key aspect to watch, Zhou said, will be how China and Africa link the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the African Union's Agenda 2063, and African countries' development plans.
The court can adjudicate the case by default, if the defendant fails to appear while the evidence is sufficient and concrete, according to the draft amendment.
