SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - President Donald Trump said San Diego "needs a wall" while he toured eight border wall prototypes along the county's southern border Tuesday.During his visit, the president stopped intermittently during his inspection of the structures to discuss the wall and, at times, slam the state over its immigration policies."For the people that say no wall, if you didn't have walls over here you wouldn't even have a country," Trump said at the prototypes. "And, by the way, the state of California is begging us to build walls in certain areas. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a man was shot during a road rage incident in Del Cerro early Sunday morning.According to police, the shooting happened on the 5200 block of Adobe Falls Road at 1 a.m. Sunday.Police say the 57-year-old victim was crossing the street to meet a friend when he was nearly struck by a white, four-door sedan.RELATED: Man continues watching UFC fight after stabbing friend in the Midway DistrictThe victim “exchanged words” with the driver of the vehicle before the man got out of the car and the two fought.The victim was knocked unconscious before a passerby took him to the hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - People who live near Mini Square Park in City Heights are fed up with what they say is a rise in crime and noise. They're calling for a curfew to be imposed at the park from 9 pm - 5 am."Every rule that's posted here is broken all day long and mostly all night long," says one woman who asked 10News not to identify her because she feels unsafe in her home next to the park. "I can get practically high from the marijuana that comes into my window cause it overlooks the park. The noise becomes just unbearable at times."The park opened in 2014, on 43rd Street in between Polk and University Avenue. Sitting between a senior center, an apartment complex and a health clinic, It was designed as a way to give adults in the community a gathering place.Instead, neighbors say it's been overrun with crime and drugs.A search of the website crimemapping.com shows 148 crimes reported within 1000 feet of the park over the last six months. That includes 21 stolen cars, 19 assaults and 16 robberies.It's gotten to the point where some people say they're afraid to walk by it, especially at night."Of course I would like to be in this park, to spend my free time there," says Isaac Musaazi, who lives in the apartment complex next door. "But I can't because of the people who are there."A community meeting to discuss a curfew and how to enforce it is scheduled for Thursday with the Community Parks Committee. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- More than 92,000 people have alleged abuse by the Boy Scouts of America. Monday was the filing deadline for people to filing claims against the organization.Team 10 has been reporting on sexual abuse allegations within the Boy Scouts for years. "He'd come at me at multiple times," former scout Mike told Team 10 in 2019. Mike declined to use his last name. Mike said the Assistant Scoutmaster sexual assaulted him during an overnight trip while he was sleeping. Mike's attorney, Andrew Van Arsdale, now represents around 80 former scouts in sexual abuse cases. He said throughout San Diego County, there are roughly 300 sexual abuse cases."What we're seeing is something on a scale we've never seen in any institutional abuse setting," Van Arsdale said. "It's hard. You picture this man you're talking to as a child and this monster on the other side doing these things to them."The Boy Scouts filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year, which means the abuse cases will go through the bankruptcy court. The national organization will work to develop a reorganization plan to fund a trust for compensation. The former scouts alleging abuse will have to approve any future plan. "If they can't come up with real money, the survivors would rather see the cease to exist then because they won't allow them to get away with paying them nothing and then just going on as business as usual," Van Arsdale said. In a statement, the Boy Scouts of America apologized to the survivors, saying they "are devastated by the number of lives impacted by past abuse in Scouting and moved by the bravery of those who have come forward.""We are heartbroken that we cannot undo their pain," the statement continued.Van Arsdale said the reorganization plan will likely come early next year. 1806

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Parents with students in the San Diego Unified School District are concerned after finding out the state medical board subpoenaed doctors who wrote their students medical exemptions for vaccinations.The district’s physician, Dr. Howard Taras, tells 10News, “We have many more medical exemptions over the past two years than we’ve ever had before.”Taras worked with the district for 30 years and says the increase in medical exemptions concerned him, so he brought it to the Committee on Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics.“I gave them loose data, like how many kids in the school district had medical exemptions that any doctor would see as a very worthwhile reason and how many were coming from doctors that were not very sound reasons in common medical practice," Taras said.The committee then took that list to the Medical Board of California. Now, parents in the district are upset knowing their child was included in a list sent to the state.“I’m absolutely appalled at the irresponsibility to have compiled this list in the first place. This is nothing that should have ever been getting out," a mother who did not want to be identified told 10News.10News learned the medical board is now investigating and has already subpoenaed 32 doctors who wrote medical exemptions for students in the district. A parent shared the letter that was sent home with their student with 10News. The letter states the information being subpoenaed includes:1. The unredacted copy of medical vaccination exemption letters 2. The name and date of birth of all children with medical vaccination exemption 3. The name(s) of the parent and/or legal guardian 4. The contact information of the parent and/or legal guardian “This is a violation of FERPA this is 100 percent unethical and I would say illegal based upon what’s taken place," a parent said.The district’s litigation specialist explains all parents have the right to seek protective action to prevent the disclosure of records. “If some of the actions that I and the medical board have taken lead to fewer medical exemptions, I really truly believe we will save people from fatality," said Taras.A representative with the state medical board responded to our request for more information saying, “The Board does not provide information on its complaints and investigations as both are confidential by law.” 2398
