DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Del Mar man is recovering at a La Jolla hospital after he was run over in an alley as he walked home from a bar. Ben Nelson's father, Bruce, said he got a call from investigators telling him his son had been hit and apparently dragged several feet. The driver took off without calling for help. Nelson was found at least an hour after the crash happened. Nelson suffered a broken pelvis, fibula, tibia and femur. Fortunately, he did not suffer any brain or spine injuries. There are surveillance cameras that point towards the alley, but Nelson's friends and families are hopeful whoever hurt their loved one is caught or turns themselves in. DENVER — A former teacher at East High School in Denver was arrested after accusations she smoked marijuana with her students during a party at her Denver home. Rachel Farley, 29, was taken into custody Monday on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class 4 felony. According to an arrest affidavit, Farley invited students from her class to her home on August 18, 2017, to decorate clothing for Freshman Day. At some point during the event, she brought out marijuana and began smoking it with her students, the document reads.In February of this year, police say they were dispatched to the school after a student reported that Farley had been providing and consuming marijuana with her students at her home.Police interviewed nine students as part of the investigation and “multiple students admitted to smoking with the suspect,” the document read. Farley resigned from East High School on August 31, 2017, according to a statement from Denver Public Schools. The statement stresses, “there was nothing notable about her resignation - she simply resigned.”After her resignation, DPS says she had been working as a volunteer in the music and drama department at the school. But after the allegations surfaced in February, she was “barred from volunteering for, contracting with or being employed by Denver Public Schools in the future.”Farley was listed as still being in custody at Denver City Jail as of Wednesday morning.  1502

DEHESA, Calif. (CNS) - A man was killed Monday morning when his car struck a fire hydrant and overturned off the side of a rural road east of El Cajon.The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on Dehesa Road, west of Sloane Canyon Road, California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow said.The driver was westbound on Dehesa Road when, for unknown reasons, his 2001 Toyota Camry crossed into the eastbound lanes, then struck a fire hydrant on the south side of the road and overturned, Garrow said.The motorist, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, the officer said. 601

(KGTV) - All eyes were on Del Mar's bluffs near the train tracks during Wednesday's storm.Watching the cliffs near Seagrove Park, 10News spotted dirt trickling down the cliffs each time a a train passed by, raising concern after a large bluff collapse Friday.Another area was deemed precarious by the North County Transit District (NCTD) less than a block away from last weekend's collapse.Transit workers told 10News everything was going to plan Wednesday, referencing sand bags keeping debris out of storm drains, funneling water away from the fragile sandstone cliffs.RELATED: Travel nightmare for train passengers after Del Mar bluff collapseAn NCTD official said the agency has personnel monitoring the bluffs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until further notice."At this time, the tracks are safe and trains are permitted to travel through the area at restricted speeds," said an NCTD spokesperson.SANDAG and North County Transit District completed a million project last fall to shore up the bluffs. 1031
