The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning the public about fake social media giveaways, where scammers use a technique called “like-farming.”The scam involves posts on Facebook, Instagram or other platforms that ask you to like or comment to enter for the chance to win something, like 0 in groceries for example.The catch is that many of these giveaways don’t actually exist. They’re created by scammers as a way of accumulating as many social media interactions as possible, according to the BBB.Once the scammers have garnered enough likes or comments, the BBB says they’ll edit the post and add something malicious, such as a link to malware.Other times, the BBB says the scammers will strip the original content off the page that has garnered likes and use it to promote “spammy” products or sell it on the black market.While these phony giveaways exist online, so do legitimate ones. The BBB has offered these tips to decipher which are real and which are fake:Look for the blue checkmark. Many social media platforms verify pages from brands and celebrities so that users can tell real pages from copycats. Make sure you look for that trust mark before liking and sharing content.Watch out for new accounts: If you think a giveaway is real, click on the business or celebrity’s profile. If it’s a new account with very little other content, that’s a big red flag.Look out for spelling errors and typos: Real brands use giveaways to promote their company. Spelling errors and typos will make them look bad! They are a big warning signs of a scam.The giveaway asks you to complete too many tasks: If a giveaway asks you to comment on multiple posts, follow several accounts, and tag a couple of brands, it becomes almost impossible to keep track of everyone participating and pick a winner at random (as required by law).There are no terms and conditions. Online giveaways should include contact details of the organizer, how to take part, how the winner will be selected, and eligibility requirements. If you don’t see information, that’s an instant red flag.Don’t click “like” on every post in your feed. TAMPA, Fla. — An employee at a Chinese Restaurant in Tampa has been arrested after deputies say he stabbed three other employee's with a butcher knife while at work on Monday.According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Xiaofu Feng, 44 was working in the kitchen of the Peking Chinese Restaurant alongside chef Qing Zheng on Monday afternoon. Around 2:35 p.m., deputies say that Feng became upset and accused Qing of taking his cell phone.That's when deputies say he grabbed a 12-inch butcher knife and cut Qing several times across the left side of his neck, causing deep lacerations, but narrowly missing the artery. The victim attempted to warn others nearby who were working in another area of the kitchen, according to an arrest report. Feng then attacked a second employee, Qi Zheng, with the butcher knife and caused multiple lacerations to the left side of her neck, shoulder, and lower arm.Shi Zheng, the store owner and Qi Zheng's father, walked in and saw what was happening from the rear of the store. Deputies say he attempted to protect his daughter and others from further harm. Feng allegedly attacked Shi with the butcher knife and cut him across the right side of his face. Shi continued his efforts to stop Feng, who had now armed himself with a second knife. Despite his injuries, he was able to disarm Feng of the second knife and hold him until deputies arrived.Deputies say that all three victims were transported to Tampa General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Feng was arrested and charged with three counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder.  1722

TAMPA, Fla. - A "Back the Blue" mural was painted outside the Tampa Police Department headquarters over the weekend.On Saturday, about 40 people came together and painted the mural on East Madison Street in downtown Tampa. The mural was created to show support for law enforcement."When they walk into the police department or when they go to work or they're patrolling the streets, they see that mural and they know they have a community behind them," said Cassandra Kistler.Kelli Campbell and Cassandra Kistler are members of Back the Blue Florida. The ladies helped organize the project.People from Community Patriots of Tampa also helped paint the mural."We had people just walking by that were inspired to pick up a brush and a roller and start helping us," said Campbell.Some people on social media are criticizing the mural or showing their support."We've been criticized a lot like it's not the best, it's not this, it's not that. It's community and community did it and brought it together and made it happen," said Cassandra Kistler.A Change.org petition said, "This mural seems to mock the Black Lives Matter movement and is a huge slap in the face for all the protesting we have been doing all over this country.""Everybody's entitled to voice their opinions and voice what they want," said Kistler."This has nothing to do with race. This is not against anyone. It's not to counter anyone. This is 100% showing support for law enforcement, all branches and truly all first responders," said Campbell.A City of Tampa spokesperson said the mural was not approved by the city.“Any tribute to honor their service is welcome. They take care of us and they make sure that we’re okay and that’s part of the community that we’re in.”Martinez runs one of more than 600,000 thousand Hispanic-owned businesses in the United States.
