SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver they say struck and killed a pedestrian in Mission Hills Thursday before fleeing the scene.According to police, the 57-year-old man was struck by the vehicle while crossing the street on the 1300 block of West Washington Avenue just after midnight. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.Based on their investigation, police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2001-2002 Hyundai Sonata with damage to the headlamps or windshield.Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department's Traffic Division at 858-495-7805 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.Crime stoppers is offering up to a ,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. 758

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One person was killed and several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash late Wednesday in the Bay Park area.CHP received a report of the multi-car crash just before 10 p.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near the SeaWorld Dr. off-ramp. Some passengers involved in the crash pulled themselves from the wreckage before CHP officers arrived.San Diego Fire-Rescue said eight people total were taken to a nearby hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police and other credit card experts are warning of a new scam being used to steal bank card information and PINs.Earlier this month, police arrested four people who installed small cameras on ATMs. They say there could be more.Experts say stand-alone ATMs at stores or in parking lots are the most enticing targets for the thieves, as are drive-up ATMs."Whenever we come up with a way to figure out how to thwart it, then the crooks can figure out how to zig past that zag," says SDSU Fowler College of Business Lecturer Steven Andres.Andres says the best thing people can do is avoid using cards altogether. Andres says to use apps like Apple Pay, which don't send any bank information during transactions."They don't actually send your real credit card number to the vendor that you're working with. Instead, a random number gets sent that's only valid for that transaction at that vendor on that minute of the day. So in the future if that vendor has their computer system hacked, that number's completely worthless," Andres says.Otherwise, Andres says to use a credit card instead of a debit card, that way you can dispute a charge and not have to wait for the stolen money to be put back in your account.He also advises people to stay away from drive-up ATMs where it's more difficult to cover your PIN as you type it in. 1354

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police have identified a man who was fatally shot in the Midway District this week, prompting a standoff with the suspect of the murder in North Park.San Diego Police received a report of the shooting just before 11 a.m. Sunday in the rear parking lot of the 24 Hour Fitness at 3675 Midway Drive. Police arrived to find 27-year-old Alexander Mazin of San Diego suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.Despite medial aid at the scene, Mazin died at the scene.RELATED: Fatal shooting leads to standoff between police, suspect in North ParkFollowing the shooting, police were led to the intersection of 30th Street and Upas St where an hours-long standoff began.Once SWAT teams entered the apartment, however, they did not find the suspect — identified as 41-year-old Ernesto Castallenos Martinez. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- New details are emerging after an infant was attacked by a pit bull in Logan Heights Monday night.Family members now say the dog broke free of its leash before running to the infant’s bouncy chair. The pit bull was reportedly startled by the chair, leading to the attack.8-week-old Jema Gonzales is said to be in serious condition and has so far had one surgery.RELATED: Baby severely injured by pit bull bite in Logan HeightsThe incident happened on Irving Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Monday. After the attack, paramedics took Jema to the hospital with lacerations to the face and possibly a punctured eye. Witnesses originally said the dog licked then bit Jema’s face.
