The pastor led a 9 a.m. service in defiance of coronavirus health orders at Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Ventura County’s Newbury Park. A livestream of the morning’s service showed a mask-less pastor and a musician standing before at least two dozen worshipers — most of whom were also not wearing masks. Two curious emperor penguins in Antarctica stumbled across a camera and the video is going viral. The curious birds flipped it over to face skyward, which recorded them staring into the camera and apparently trying to figure out what the device was doing on their turf. The Australian Antarctic division posted the 38-second clip on its Twitter page March 7. Uber announced its "Get Out and Vote" campaign as they look to do their part to help people get to the polls to vote in the upcoming presidental election.On Tuesday, the ride-sharing company said in a press release that the campaign was designed to help communities and their employees to exercise their right to vote.The company said they focus on three core areas to help get folks registered to vote: in-app voter registration and vote-by-mail ballot requests, poll finding and ride promos and powering the polls.If you have the Uber or Uber Eats app, you can register to vote and request a mail-in ballot through those apps.If you need to get to the polls on Election Day, Uber will get you there at a discounted price.“As we look ahead to this year’s election, we are committed to doing our part to make sure every citizen has access to vote,” Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in the press release. “We hope that by giving people the ability to easily register to vote and request an absentee ballot via the Uber and Uber Eats apps, independent workers—and everyone who uses our platform—will have a stronger voice in our democracy."Khosrowshahi added that employees would have Election Day off. 1209

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (KGTV) - A military servicemember has been charged in connection with the shooting death investigation of a Navy medic on a Southern California military base. ABC10 News investigative reporter Jennifer Kastner first broke the story in 2019 after learning that the sudden death of 30-year-old HM3 Michael Vincent De Leon was being investigated as a homicide, not a suicide, like the family said they were led to believe.De Leon was a Navy corpsman, commonly known as a medic. He died last summer on the Twentynine Palms Marine military base, which is located a few hours northeast of San Diego. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the Marines sent ABC10 News the following statement:“As you might know, this incident is still under investigation. I can confirm, however, that charges have been preferred against one of the individuals for dereliction of duty resulting in death and dereliction of duty. A hearing is not scheduled at this time. The other individuals are being investigated.
