Just after 6 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a Walmart store on Fletcher Avenue for reports of a woman trying to make a "firebomb" inside the store. Emily Stallard, 37, was opening items like flammable material, projectiles and matches inside the store that she hadn't paid for, the sheriff's office says. A security guard saw her and immediately called 911. Authorities say the guard and an off-duty Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer, who was in the store at the time, detained Stallard until deputies arrived. “This woman had all the supplies she needed to cause mass destruction at her disposal. Had it not been for an observant off-duty law enforcement officer and a watchful security staff at Walmart, she may have followed through with her plans to cause an explosion inside the store," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. The sheriff's office says Stallard had a child with her at the time. She is charged with attempted arson of a structure, fire bombing, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse and battery on a law enforcement officer."I am proud of the quick response by the officer and security personnel who stepped in and the thorough job performed by my deputies to investigate this matter and make an arrest," Chronister said. "I can't stress enough: if you see something, say something. You don't have to tackle a bad guy to be a hero. for four days. On Tuesday, the Maricopa County Attorney's Office charged Leland Jay Wedin Jr., 59, with vulnerable adult abuse after the death of his 85-year-old mother. Court records show that on January 9, Geraldine Wedin fell out of her bed at her home near 35th Avenue and Bell Road. After four days, her live-in son called family members to help him get Geraldine back into bed. Investigators say the family was "horrified at the living conditions." The home was full of garbage and human and dog feces, according to the family. The family reportedly told investigators that Geraldine was "incoherent, lying in her own waste, with large pressure sores on both hips that were crawling with maggots." Hospital workers reported to police that Geraldine was suffering from septic shock, Pneumonia, hypothermia, and had an open finger fracture. She died a month later. Wedin reportedly told police that his mother refused to go to the hospital, so he fed her nutrition shakes and water, and treated her sores with peroxide and antibiotic ointment. Court records show that Geraldine hadn't been to a doctor in two years. Neighbors allegedly told police that the condition of the home "severely declined" when Wedin moved in two years ago. YUMA, Ariz. -- Multiple agencies are investigating after they say a cross-border tunnel between Mexico and the US was discovered leading to a Yuma KFC, according to KGUN.While investigating the abandoned restaurant’s owner for drugs, police stumbled upon the tunnel.On August 13, officers stopped Ivan Lopez for a vehicle violation when they found 168 kilograms of narcotics in two tool boxes.The tool boxes were spotted being removed from the abandoned KFC. Homeland Security agents were able to get a search warrant for Lopez’s home and restaurant.After searching the building, authorities found the tunnel they say measured more than 600-feet long, 5 feet tall and three feet wide.The entryway to the tunnel was found in a “residential compound,” accessed through a door under a bed.At the US entry point, no mechanism was found to climb up the small entryway. Authorities believe the drugs were raised up by a rope, loaded in the tool boxes then taken from the restaurant.The drugs were valued at .2 million in street value. Just nine months ago, Taulbee was teaching industrial maintenance to Powell County High School students, until the principal said he resigned. The principal said that he is not able to discuss why Taulbee resigned due to confidentiality. A grand jury recently returned an indictment that reads in that same month, March 2019, Taulbee subjected a child to sexual contact and intentionally abused the child.He pleaded not guilty to both felony charges.In connection to this case, the grand jury also charged Tina Bryant with failure to report child abuse, wanton endangerment and abandoning a child. Both Taulbee and Bryant have the same attorney, which the judge questions, citing a potential conflict of interest.The judge ordered Taulbee to not contact Bryant. Shortly after, he ordered Taulbee to be transferred to the Montgomery County Detention Center.Since the indictment was filed, Taublee was charged with tampering with a witness.The arrest warrant reads that after Taulbee learned he was indicted, he sent a threatening message to a Stanton Police officer who is listed as a witness in his case.Taulbee is due in court for the tampering charge on Friday.Next Wednesday, he returns to Circuit Court for a pre-trial conference concerning the sexual abuse and criminal abuse felony charges.Both Taulbee and Bryant turned down our request for an interview. 1523
