With the high costs, 30 percent of guests are declining the wedding invite, because they simply can't afford to go. Wedding planner Lauren Smith, with Hour Glass Productions, says whether you attend or not, giving a gift is a must. "If it's a relationship that you want to continue with, you should still give them a gift,” Smith says. “If it’s someone [who’s] ‘ehh’ and we probably aren't going to talk or see them again, then don't give a gift," Smith suggests. But how much should you spend? Most experts say it depends on your relationship with the couple. Smith says whatever you think the meal costs. "Plated meals cost more. Buffets cost a little less, and if you go to a food truck wedding, it’s even less than that," she says. While cash used to be frowned upon for some, Smith and recent bride Sarah Valencia say money is a great gift. "They just gave us money for our honeymoon fund, which was awesome,” says Valencia. “And maybe it was , , or whatever, but it was fine with us." A group of investors said they were inspired by a local pastor when they heard him on the radio talk about African Americans owning businesses in the city of Detroit. So, about two dozen people joined the pastor by investing anywhere from 0 to over ,000 into an investment group he started.The group first invested in a local market on 7 Mile Road on Detroit's west side. The investors were not part of the pastor's congregation, but some said they trusted that a man of faith would be a wise choice to lead their investment group. They made some money on the first store, which had an owner as their partner, but they wanted to invest in actually purchasing a different store that the group would own. However, then things began to change, according to Willie Taylor who ended up being the treasurer of the group. Taylor said while he was the treasurer, he did not have access to the monies in the account. Only the pastor's name was tied to the account, he said. Taylor and other members of the investment group would eventually go to Highland Park police and accuse the pastor of embezzling the thousands of dollars they gave him to invest in a store they wanted to own.Taylor estimates ,000 has gone missing from the group and he said they began to suspect trouble when the pastor stopped attending their meetings. We are not naming the pastor because he has not been charged with any crime. He did talk to us and he claims he stopped attending meetings because he felt threatened and stalked.The pastor said he filed a lawsuit against the owner of the store they originally invested in because he was not returning their money on schedule. That case is pending in Wayne County Third Circuit Court.Taylor said the money that's in dispute is separate from the lawsuit and deals only with those who invested in the second store - one they had hoped would be owned by the group. And when they didn't get answers from the pastor about the missing money, several members of the group went to the pastor's church, sat in the pews during service and then protested outside while holding a large sign that read "Where is the 2nd store $.""He's dodging us, you know," said Walter Crawford who told us he's out ,000. "That's the behavior, to me, of a thief and a crook."Highland Park police would not comment on the investigation. The pastor said that Taylor and the man who owns the first store they invested in must have the missing money because he said he doesn't have it. A 7-year-old boy complaining of jaw pain was found to have 526 teeth inside his mouth, according to the hospital in India where he was treated.The boy was admitted last month in the southern city of Chennai because of swelling and pain near his molars in his lower right jaw.When doctors scanned and x-rayed his mouth, they found a sac embedded in his lower jaw filled with "abnormal teeth," Dr. Prathiba Ramani, the head of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, told CNN.While the surgery to remove the teeth took place last month, doctors needed time to individually examine each tooth before they could confirm their findings.After discovering the sac, two surgeons removed it from the boy's mouth. Then Ramani's team took four to five hours to empty the sac to confirm its contents and discovered the hundreds of teeth."There were a total of 526 teeth ranging from 0.1 millimeters (.004 inches) to 15 millimeters (0.6 inches). Even the smallest piece had a crown, root and enamel coat indicating it was a tooth," she said.The boy was released three days after the surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, Ramani said.Ramani said the boy was suffering from a very rare condition called compound composite odontoma. She said what caused the condition is unclear, but it could be genetic or it could be due to environmental factors like radiation.The boy actually may have had the extra teeth for some time. His parents told doctors that they had noticed swelling in his jaw when he was as young as 3, but they couldn't do much about it because he would not stay still or allow doctors to examine him.Dr. P. Senthilnathan, head of the hospital's Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department and one of two surgeons who operated on the boy, detailed the procedure to CNN."Under general anesthesia, we drilled into the jaw from the top," he said. "We did not break the bone from the sides, meaning reconstruction surgery was not required. The sac was removed. You can think of it as a kind of balloon with small pieces inside."Dr. Senthilnathan said the discovery showed it was important to seek treatment for dental issues as early as possible.Awareness about dental and oral health was improving, he said, though access in rural areas remained problematic."Earlier, things like not as many dentists, lack of education, poverty meant that there was not as much awareness. These problems are still there."You can see people in cities have better awareness but people who are in rural areas are not as educated or able to afford good dental health."In Ravindrath's case, all has turned out well; the boy now has a healthy count of 21 teeth, Dr. Senthilnathan said. 2715

A figure skater has filed a lawsuit accusing longtime US Figure Skating coach Richard Callaghan of sexually abusing him for approximately two years, beginning when he was about 14.The lawsuit, filed in San Diego court, alleges Callaghan sexually molested figure skater Adam Schmidt repeatedly between 1999 and 2001, both while coaching the then-teen and later at a competition in San Diego. Schmidt, now 34, is a former member of the US National Figure Skating Team, his lawyers said.The abuse continued, the lawsuit says, despite the fact a 1999 New York Times article revealed allegations of sexual misconduct by Callaghan with another figure skater. The coach remained "in good-standing" with the US Figure Skating Association, which was aware of allegation by the alleged victim, but dismissed it, the lawsuit alleges.Callaghan was also an employee at an ice skating rink in Rochester, Michigan, the lawsuit says, where he was allowed to continue coaching minors, and where he allegedly abused Schmidt."While performing these duties, (Callaghan) violated his role as a coach, sexually violated the Plaintiff, and used his position of authority and power over the Plaintiff," the lawsuit alleges.The US Figure Skating Association and a Michigan ice skating center are also identified as defendants in the lawsuit. Additional defendants are unknown individuals and corporations.The lawsuit claims that as a result of the abuse, Schmidt suffered anxiety, depression, fear, grief and stress.
