DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — A South Florida driver recounted the terrifying moments a piece of metal smashed through his windshield while driving on Interstate 95, missing him by inches.The Florida Highway Patrol said the incident happened Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. south of the Woolbright Road exit.Officials said the metal flew off a tow truck and into Eduardo Medina's truck.The metal missed Medina by inches, leaving a few scratches on his face and hands from the glass.Medina, who speaks Spanish, had his wife Norma Rodriquez translate the moments he scary crash."All he heard was an explosion. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- Another shark sighting in Del Mar prompted lifeguards to leave in place signs warning swimmers to enter the water at their own risk. According to lifeguards, the five-foot-long shark was spotted at 1 p.m. off 15th street as crews patrolled the area in a boat. Lifeguards say the advisory signs will be taken down in 24 hours unless any more sharks are spotted in the area. The sighting marks the fourth day in a row a shark has been spotted in the area. Research biologists say if a shark is under six feet, they are juveniles and eat smaller fish, posing no threat to people. “If I saw a sub-adult or anything over 6 feet, I would probably personally get out of the water,” Heidi Dewar, Research Biologist at the Southwest Fisheries Science Center said. DENVER – A natural gas explosion caused at least one building to partially collapse Tuesday in Denver, injuring nine people. Simon Crittle, a spokesperson for Denver Health Medical Center, said two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance after the explosion and collapse. One of the people suffered traumatic injuries in the explosion. The other person was stable Tuesday afternoon.Crittle said that several other people were being treated at the scene of the explosion and collapse and that first responders were looking for other possible victims.Denver Fire Captain Greg Pixley said the explosion was reported at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and said several buildings were damaged in the area. One person who had been trapped was rescued by firefighters.Pixley said that crews were working to put out an active fire at the scene in addition to working to reduce the chance of other explosions in the area and further collapses. He said there were no reported deaths as of 2:10 p.m.An Xcel Energy spokeswoman on scene said all of the company equipment is intact up to the meters, meaning the explosion was likely caused by a customer. Xcel is working to turn off gas remotely. "It was just like the biggest, loudest boom I've ever heard."She said some men who had been working on her business' HVAC system ran over to help the man and another trapped woman.Another neighbor, Edward Scott, said he was on the phone with his insurance company at his nearby home when the explosion happened."[The insurance agent] was on the phone with me going, 'What happened, what happened?' and I said, 'I don't know, I think my house just blew up,'" Scott said.He said he was hit by wood debris from the explosion and that the shockwave from the blast was so intense he thought his own home had exploded. When he realized it was another home across the street, he said he walked over to the scene and saw a person rescued from the rubble."It was two people ... a lady. And then this guy picked her up and firemen carried her out of the house," Scott said. DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- A Del Mar man is recovering at a La Jolla hospital after he was run over in an alley as he walked home from a bar. Ben Nelson's father, Bruce, said he got a call from investigators telling him his son had been hit and apparently dragged several feet. The driver took off without calling for help. Nelson was found at least an hour after the crash happened. Nelson suffered a broken pelvis, fibula, tibia and femur. Fortunately, he did not suffer any brain or spine injuries. There are surveillance cameras that point towards the alley, but Nelson's friends and families are hopeful whoever hurt their loved one is caught or turns themselves in. DENVER, Colo. - Air traffic in and out of Denver International Airport was impacted Tuesday afternoon following COVID-19-related cleaning procedures at an FAA facility on airport grounds, a DIA spokesperson confirmed to Denver7.DIA said they were in a ground stop for only a few minutes around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The airport was on a ground delay or traffic management up until 6 p.m., delaying inbound traffic.The stop happened due to COVID-19-related cleaning in an FAA facility on airport property after an FAA employee tested positive for the virus. Air controllers were moved into a backup room to clean the main room.
