SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was left bleeding and bruised after she was forced to jump off an electric scooter. She had to think quickly when she realized the brakes were cut Tuesday night in Pacific Beach. "My option was either to jump off the scooter or to just roll with it into traffic," said Mary Adamcyk. Adamcyk says she rides electric scooters all the time. Tuesday night, it didn't end well. "I was really freaked out because there were two cars coming towards me."So, she decided to jump. "I just kind of went flying, I mean, I jumped off, I fell to my knees, my cell phone went flying," said Adamcyk. "I had holes just torn into both of my knees, they got cut up. They found head injuries due to scooter crashes have tripled in the last decade. Although she didn't hit her head, Adamcyk reported the incident to Bird. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A verdict has been reached in the trial of a former Yuma Police officer accused of raping his then-wife's cousin in 2017.Jurors found 34-year-old Jared Elkins guilty of four felony counts, including forcible rape and sexual penetration by force. Elkins was found not guilty, however, on four similar counts involving an intoxicated victim."I'm extremely pleased with this jury and their verdicts," said Deputy District Attorney Lisa Fox."The fact that he was a law enforcement officer and carried a weapon was significant for the victim in this case she believed that he would carry through with these threats and why she was so afraid of him," argued Fox.Elkins was taken into custody without bail following the reading of the verdict. Elkins claimed during testimony this month that the sex was consensual and the rape charges were made out of guilt.Following the encounter, the woman says she ran to her mother's room and both escaped out of a window. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman in Carmel Valley is warning others after she saw a man masturbating in public late Wednesday night. The woman, who didn't want to be identified, said she was doing a late-night load of laundry when she saw a man in a sweatshirt with the hood pulled up over his face and no pants on masturbating. The incident happened at an apartment complex near Seabreeze Farms Drive and Carmel Knolls Drive. “When I screamed ‘oh my god’ he didn’t budge, he didn’t move, he didn’t even look up at me. He just kept doing what he was doing,” she said. “He didn’t run, he just was in his, he was so comfortable.” She reported it to police and management and was told the same thing happened to another neighbor last week.
