Men may have a harder time maintaining friendships during the pandemic.Experts say it’s because social distancing guidelines have forced men out of their normal ways of communicating.“Men tend to construct their friendships on a shoulder-to-shoulder basis and women tend to use a face-to-face basis, so guys will get together and do things, like sports, going to the sports bar, activities,” said University of Maryland Professor Geoffrey Greif, author of the book “Buddy System: Understanding Male Friendships.”Greif says it's rare for men to reach out to each other just to talk. Men tend to be more cautious about how much they share. They'll also only ask to do something together so many times before the invitation is returned.“We're just not socialized to feel comfortable. We don't want to seem like we are stalking another guy for a friendship. Men don't want to appear too emotionally needy,” said Greif. There are some activities that we can still do while social distancing.Greif says you can also try getting together over Zoom to watch sports or play a game.Recognize it's not going to be as good as in person, but keep in mind that eventually the pandemic will end. 1186

Cook bought a winning ticket on June 10 and won a cool million."He called me and I said, 'are you jerking my bobber?'" Feeney told Wisconsin Lottery.Cook gave his two-week notice and has since retired. Feeney was already retired from an area fire department. MIAMI (AP) — A South Florida high school decided to take the jungle theme for prom a bit too seriously for some students.Students, parents and teachers from Christopher Columbus High School took to social media to say that a wild tiger at last Friday's prom was animal abuse. The Miami Herald reports that footage shows the tiger pacing inside a small enclosure as bright lights flashed around him.Mari-Chris Castellanos, whose brother attends the all-boys private school, posted on Facebook and said the tiger "was used as an exotic amusement for the mindless teenagers who were present."The dance also featured a lemur, two macaws, and an African fennec fox.School administrators said in a statement that the venue approved it and that the animals were provided by facilities licensed by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.___Information from: The Miami Herald, http://www.herald.com 927
MADISON, Wisc. -- The classic holiday song "Baby It's Cold Outside," has been pulled from a Madison, Wisconin radio station's airwaves.According to our partners at WISC-TV, Mid-West Family Broadcasting Program Director Fletcher Keyes said he took all versions of "Baby It's Cold Outside" out of rotation on Hank AM 1550 and 97.7 FM Monday. Keyes said that the song was pulled because "it's describing a scenario that wouldn't be OK today, so we didn't feel that we had to have it." He also said that he thinks the song could bring up bad feelings. The song was also pulled from a Cleveland radio station last week.“It really pushed the line of consent,” Cleveland Rape Crisis Center President and CEO Sondra Miller told local news in that city. For more information, click here. 825
