(CNS) -- Search warrants served at five illegal marijuana dispensaries in Chula Vista, Lakeside and Spring Valley resulted in the arrests of six people on a variety of charges and the seizure of .1 million and 3,000 pounds of marijuana and other drugs.Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department served the warrants at the dispensaries, as well as at homes in Jamul and San Diego and at a storage facility in Spring Valley, according to Sgt. Zheath Sanchez.The warrants followed "numerous community complaints related to unlicensed and illegal dispensaries, some located in residential neighborhoods and near local schools," Sanchez said.Taken into custody were:-- Samir Shoshani, 34, of Jamul and Iisin Mikha, 28, of Michigan, for conspiracy and operating or maintaining a drug house-- Brandon Ceja, 23, of San Diego, for being a felon in possession of a firearm-- Ariel Brown, 23, of Chula Vista, for possession of metal knuckles and possession of marijuana for sale-- Faith Ford, 22, of San Diego for possession of marijuana for saleIn addition to the marijuana, deputies seized marijuana edibles, concentrated cannabis, suspected Psilocybin mushrooms, and 20 firearms, including three semi-automatic rifles, Sanchez said.Two of the illegal dispensaries were located in Spring Valley, one in the 9900 block of Dolores Street and the other in 9500 block of Kenwood Drive.Two others were located in Lakeside, in the 8500 block of Winter Gardens Boulevard and the 900 block of Greenfield Drive in Lakeside.The fifth illegal dispensary was located in Chula Vista in the 300 block of Palomar Street. 1639

CHULA VISTA (KGTV) - Chula Vista police are searching for a possible arsonist after two brush fires burned part of Otay river bottom Friday afternoon. Fire crews responded around 2 in the afternoon to the area south of Main Street and east of Broadway. While crews were working to put out the fire, they received a call of a second fire in the same location. The second fire presented more difficulties because of its location. Batallion Chief David Albright tells 10News, "it was kind of down in the slough, in the river bottom, so we were able to bring in a helicopter and make some water drops". Multiple water drops were made and fire crews had both fires out within an hour. Chula Vista police are continuing their search for a possible arsonist. They believe there could be a connection to one of the homeless individuals living near the Otay River bottom. (KGTV) - Chula Vista neighbors are dealing with the aftermath of a San Diego Gas and Electric equipment malfunction that triggered a power outage and caused their homes to smoke.Residents on Country Club Circle told 10News about the outage Saturday night. Electricity was restored and everything seemed fine, they said, but they woke up to sparked outlets, smoke and fire Sunday morning.“Every single room sounded like someone came in with gunshots,” said Mona Hernandez. “My girls got up screaming ‘fire’ in one of the rooms and I thought they were on fire. I feared they were actually on fire until I got to see them.”SDG&E said the equipment failure involved a transformer and affected more than 400 homes in the area.One woman said she was concerned about her air conditioning and heating working for her son.“He’s disabled. We need the heater to use. He's going to have open brain surgery next week. (KGTV) — Chula Vista Police have identified a woman who was found shot to death in a field earlier this month.Police said 23-year-old Christina Garcia was found on Aug. 5 at about 6:30 a.m. in a field near the 3100 block of Main Street. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Faith leaders and business owners in Chula Vista attended a training Monday night to learn how to plan and prepare for an active shooter threat. Chula Vista police lieutenant, Dan Peak, tells 10News the department received several calls after the Poway Synagogue shooting, asking officers how they could stay safe in the event of an active shooter at their place of worship or business. Chula Vista Police Sergeant, Mike Varga, provided the training for the community. Varga's presentation included a history of active shooters, red flags to look out for, and what to do if you find yourself in an active shooter situation. His advice in that situation is to run, hide or fight. During the presentation, Varga played a 9-minute video detailing exactly what one can do to survive a shooting. Varga also told the audience to listen to their intuition, meaning if someone is displaying red flags, alert the police and let investigators decide whether or not there is a threat.
