VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) – A head-on collision at a Vista intersection left one driver dead and sent three others to the hospital, San Diego County sheriff’s officials said.The collision involving two vehicles happened just before 11 p.m. Thursday on West Vista Way at Copper Avenue.According to sheriff’s officials, a black Infiniti sedan was traveling westbound on West Vista Way when it collided head-on into a blue Chevrolet hatchback that was traveling eastbound on West Vista Way.The Chevrolet’s 51-year-old male driver died at the scene, while a passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The Infiniti’s 22-year-old female driver was hospitalized with serious injuries, according to officials. A passenger in the Infiniti suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.The cause of the crash is under investigation, but officials believe alcohol was a factor in the collision. 935

(KGTV) -- Certain businesses in Vista will be allowed to take their operations outdoors in light of the state’s COVID-19 pandemic-related restrictions.Vista officials said a Temporary Emergency Order was issued Wednesday “to relax outdoor use for personal care services, salon and barber shop services, and gym and fitness services to temporarily relocate their existing business operations to an adjacent outdoor area during the COVID-19 pandemic.”The city’s order comes as indoor operations across the state shut down -- effective July 15 -- for gyms, houses of worship, non-critical office businesses, hair salons and barber shops, indoor malls and personal care services.Vista businesses that would like to move services outdoors are asked to contact the city’s Economic Development Department at 760-639-6165 or via email at EconDev@CityofVista.com.In a statement, Vista Mayor Judy Ritter said, “It’s a top priority for the City of Vista to do everything we can to support our local businesses during this pandemic and still protect the health and safety of the community. (KGTV) - Charges were filed Tuesday against the San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy accused of groping a 14-year-old girl at a Vista restaurant.Prosecutors said Timothy Wilson, 32, was caught on surveillance camera at the Panda Express on Main Street March 21. Video shows Wilson entering the restaurant and grabbing the girl, according to investigators.A Sheriff’s Department employee recognized Wilson from the video and reported him.Wilson is charged with one felony count of lewd act with a 14-year-old, and one felony count of accessing a computer to take data, including the girl's home address. The girl's family lives near the Vista jail where Wilson works and now plans to move.The victim's mother, Janna Tanis, told 10News that her daughter is going to counseling, "She's still trying to process this all. It's very overwhelming; it's shocking and disappointing."A judge ordered Wilson to remain in custody in lieu of 0,000 bail. He is being held at the downtown jail, away from his co-workers at the Vista jail.
