Oakland County Sheriff's deputies say an 11-year-old allegedly stole a rental car from a Pontiac, Michigan resident.Deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle as the caller said they may have left the keys in the ignition before the car went missing.An hour later, the victim called 911 to report that he observed a subject driving the rental car and had blocked it from moving in a parking space in an apartment complex. He told deputies that the suspect had fled from the stolen vehicle prior to their arrival.Deputies checked the area and located the suspect hiding near a railroad overpass. The suspect fled on foot and was apprehended by deputies and taken into custody.There was damaged observed on the rental car, police say.  759

Apitherapy -- the medicinal use of bee hive products, including honey, pollen and bee venom -- was the woman's go-to treatment for stress and contractures, a tightening of her muscles that caused stiff joints.Live bee sting acupuncture "is a technique that is becoming more widely available" around the world, said Dr. Ricardo Madrigal-Burgaleta, senior author of a case study describing the Spanish woman's experience and previously her doctor at Madrid's Ramon y Cajal University Hospital.The case study was published in the current issue of the Journal of Investigational Allergology and Clinical Immunology.The woman had shown no negative side effects to bee sting acupuncture, he said. In fact, her medical record recorded no history or mention of asthma, heart disease or allergies of any kind or to insects in particular.But one day, during her monthly session, the woman began to wheeze and find it difficult to breathe after the first live bee sting.Suddenly, she lost consciousness. 1114

One day after President Donald Trump said he would leave the White House on January 20 barring a massive revolt from Electoral College voters, Trump walked back his statement on Friday.In a tweet, Trump says that President-elect Joe Biden will only be allowed in the White House if he can prove that he had 80 million votes. In America, voters cast private ballots. Once a vote is tabulated, it is no longer traced to the voter. Lawmakers put in measures such as secret ballots in the late 1800s amid an era of voter intimidation. Non-secret ballots are generally a violation of international law.“Biden can only enter the White House as President if he can prove that his ridiculous ‘80,000,000 votes’ were not fraudulently or illegally obtained,” Trump tweeted. “When you see what happened in Detroit, Atlanta, Philadelphia & Milwaukee, massive voter fraud, he’s got a big unsolvable problem!”Biden is slated to send 306 electors on his behalf to state capitols on December 4, 36 more than the 270 needed to become president on January 20. Trump has been trying to stop Biden’s electors from casting a vote by whatever means possible. After more than three dozen failed legal challenges since the election, Trump has been meeting with state legislative leaders, most recently on Wednesday with Republican members of the Pennsylvania legislature.The latest failed legal challenge came on Friday when a Trump-appointed federal judge was among a three-judge panel that threw out a lawsuit in Pennsylvania. ORLANDO, Fla. — Fans are calling on Disney parks to re-theme one of their most iconic rides.A petition posted on Change.org asks Disney to remove all references to its 1946 film "Song of the South" from Splash Mountain.The petition says the movie "steeped in extremely problematic and stereotypical racist tropes." The petition suggests Disney should re-theme the ride around "Princess and the Frog." Tiana, the main character in the film, is recognized for being Disney's first African-American princess.The petition had more than 8,000 signatures as of Thursday morning. The petition's current goal is set at 10,000 signatures.The call for change comes as the country continues to hold discussions surrounding racial injustice in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis police custody.Floyd's death caught the nation's attention after bystander video showed the 46-year-old man struggling to breathe while in police custody in late May. The video showed a white police officer, later identified as Derek Chauvin, kneeling on Floyd's neck for more than eight minutes.Chauvin was initially charged with third-degree murder before charges were upgraded to second-degree murder. He's also charged with manslaughter.The three other officers involved in Floyd's arrest — Tou Thao, J. On Friday morning, a truck pulled up outside Heim Elementary School in Williamsville to collect boxes full of shoes for the Nicaragua Mission Project.The project has been collecting supplies for people in Nicaragua for more than a decade. Based in East Amherst, it works with volunteers from local schools and churches to fill boxes with donations and send them from New York to Nicaragua.Heim Elementary School has been working with the project for years, and one fourth grader has been a part of the project for most of his life. Luke Avery started collecting shoes in kindergarten. He even goes to other schools and daycares to pick up donations. Luke has collected more than 3,000 pairs of shoes over the years. He was there again Friday morning to donate more."I feel like other kids can go for school because of kids at my school," Luke said."This is not from me, this is from other children," the project's organizer, Ann Marie Zon said. "And they always feel another kid feeling for them is more special than that shoes. They know somebody cares about them, and I think that's the bigger gift." 1115
