Volunteers will escort attendees to their seats and serve them a traditional holiday meal.Serving Seniors will also host its annual Christmas meal for low- income and homeless San Diego County seniors, many of whom would otherwise spend the holiday alone. About 350 seniors will enjoy a meal of Cornish hen with Mornay sauce, cornbread dressing, whipped potatoes, green peas and carrot cake, according to the organization. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities asked the public to keep an eye out for a missing Lemon Grove teenager with a history of running away from home.The last known sighting of Alonna Wintland, 15, was on July 31, when she left her home in the 8000 block of Lemon Grove Way in a car driven by an unidentified man, according to sheriff's officials.At the time, Alonna, who did not take her cellphone or debit card with her when she disappeared, was wearing beige shorts, a white shirt and sandals. Her whereabout since have been unknown.Alonna is white, 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 235 pounds. That's down from 40 arrests in the area at the same time last year.Statewide, the CHP arrested 639 people for suspected DUI violations Friday night and early Sunday, up from 604 in 2017.There were 20 traffic fatalities reported by law enforcement agencies across the state during the period -- including one in San Diego County. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A United Airlines flight scheduled to take off from San Diego International Airport was diverted from the runway just before departure Friday due to an undisclosed mechanical issue with one of the plane's engines.Flight 478 was scheduled to take off for Denver shortly before noon, but was recalled while on the airport's taxiway. The plane was safely escorted back to the airport's terminal and the issue occurred at low speed, according to United.``The aircraft safely returned to the gate and customers deplaned normally,'' a United spokesperson said in a statement. ``We are making arrangements to get our customers to their final destination as soon as possible.''Roughly 120 passengers were aboard the flight. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in tracking down a motorist involved in a fatal hit-and-run on a Clairemont- area street last month.The unidentified driver's black four-door sedan struck and killed 44- year-old Shane Moore as he was crossing the street in the 5500 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard shortly before 7:30 p.m. Jan. 22, according to San Diego police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.The motorist continued driving and fled the area to the east.
