EL CAJON (CNS) - A man who barged onto a school bus full of children in Campo and pulled a knife on the driver pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor child endangerment on Thursday.Matthew Douglas Barker, 37, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 22.El Cajon Superior Court Judge Robert Amador said he would likely suspend a 6-year prison term and sentence Barker to a year in jail, then order suspend a 6-year prison term and sentence Barker to a year in jail, then order him released to a long-term residential facility while on felony probation.Sheriff's officials said the school bus was pulling away from a stop in the 900 block of Jeb Stuart Road in Campo when the driver noticed a man running toward it about 8:30 a.m. on May 25.RELATED: Good Samaritans wrestle armed man off school bus filled with Campo Elementary studentsThinking the approaching pedestrian was a parent trying to stop the bus for a child who had missed it, the driver pulled to a stop and opened the front door of the coach, sheriff's Sgt. When the intruder refused to stop, the driver tried to physically block him from getting into the passenger area, Uelen said.Seeing the two men fighting, a grandmother of one of the students hurried aboard to try to help the driver. As the struggle between the three escalated, the assailant pulled a knife, Uelen said.At that point, a second bystander entered the bus and intervened.After a scuffle, he was able to pry the weapon away from Barker and pull him off the bus.Meanwhile, an older student ushered the other children to the back of the vehicle, called out for help to some parents who were still nearby and helped the young students get out of the bus through a back door and rear windows.Arriving deputies arrested Barker, a Campo resident, without further incident. No injuries were reported.Barker was not on drugs, but surveillance video on the bus showed that he was not in his right state of mind, said Deputy District Attorney Taren Brast. 2182

Would you go as often if you heard about collisions and damage happening inside?Mark Crotty of Arizona took his new car through a Super Star Car Wash. He says while in the wash, a car two cars ahead somehow came off the rollers. Crotty said the truck in front of him stopped, which caused his car to be sandwiched with the truck and a big SUV from behind. He said that SUV pushed him about 15 feet through the rest of the wash. Crotty says Super Star Car Wash took no responsibility for the damage caused. He ended up paying hundreds to repair damage to his bumpers.Jennifer Chahoud also had damage to her new car. She also said it happened inside a Super Star Car Wash.Chahoud says cars suddenly stopped in front of her and her car was hit. She said for weeks, Super Star claimed they were not responsible.Chahoud said only after complaining to the Better Business Bureau that they paid for repairs to her car.Jake Morrissey says it happened to him too.He said his car was in neutral and his hands were off the steering wheel as all drivers are asked to do. Then his car collided with a car in front and back of him.He said Super Star claimed no responsibility and said it was not their equipment. Instead, he says the car wash blamed another driver.Morrissey said Super Star gave him the driver's name and location and told him to take it up with her. He approached her, but said she denied knowing anything about it and threatened to call the police. He sued, and Super Star blamed this other driver.Morrissey lost and still hasn't had his damage repaired, and he now questions why cars are put on the conveyor belt so closely.Morrissey added he wonders why there aren't sensors that immediately stop the line when there's an issue.JR Ruelas of Super Star Car Wash said these collisions are very rare. He said when they happen, they are usually the fault of the driver.Ruelas said drivers put on their brakes or move the steering wheel taking them off the track.He says in the above cases, the car wash equipment was not the problem.He defended the practice of giving drivers information of other drivers to seek reimbursement.He said Super Star does take responsibility when they are at fault, but couldn't give exact numbers.Ruelas said there are sensors on the conveyor line, but they are not in the middle, where many of these collisions happen.Crotty, Chahoud and Morrissey all said their damage was not their fault, and ask how could it be when they have no control over their car's movement? EAST VILLAGE (KGTV) -- A woman was wounded in an officer-involved shooting in the East Village Saturday night.San Diego police received numerous calls to an apartment complex on Market Street and Park Boulevard around 10 p.m. about a woman throwing objects out of a window. Officers arrived and found broken glass and furniture on the sidewalk below an apartment.Officials say the woman refused to listen to police and brandished a knife while out the window, continuing to throw objects. The woman refused to come out of the building, prompting police to force their way into the apartment. The woman locked herself in the bathroom, police say. Police used verbal directions, chemical agents, and a police canine to attempt to get the woman into custody, but the woman continued to refuse.The woman grabbed and punched the police canine. When officers made their way into the bathroom, police say she threatened them with a knife. “One officer fearing that he was going to be struck or stabbed with a knife, fired at least one round striking the female,” said Capt. Rich Freedman of the San Diego Police Department.The woman was treated at the scene and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot injuries. The officers were not injured, although some people were hit by objects being thrown out of the window. The woman has not been identified, but she is a 26-year-old resident of San Diego, according to SDPD.The name of the officer involved in the shooting was not released, be he has been with the department for more than 11 years, police said. 1572
