(KGTV) - The Navy is taking action to assess living conditions in military housing amid complaints of rodents, mold, and water damage. Families have shared stories about housing problems with 10News over several weeks. The Navy sent a survey Monday to received feedback on the situation. Erika Bradley, a Navy wife and mother, said she arrived at MCAS Miramar last June to find mice and mold in her new home. “When my husband calls and he's in a war zone, do you think I am going to complain about mold? ‘Hey babe, we have rats where our children eat,” Bradley said. “I don't want him to worry about that because if his mind isn't focused where it needs to be, that's peoples lives.” Lawmakers are trying to push a bill through Congress that would give military families power to withhold rent from landlords. More than 700,000 people live in privatized housing across military bases. Bradley is hoping the military will put more pressure on private companies, holding them accountable. (KGTV) - Southwest Airlines announced plans to begin offering flights to four Hawaiian airports later this year.The airlines will begin selling tickets sometime in 2018 for flights to Honolulu International Airport, Lihue Airport, Kona International Airport at Keahole, and Kahului Airport.Southwest didn't say when the flights would begin service to the islands, prices for flights, or from which airports flights would depart from on the U.S. mainland.A Hawaii-specific page on Southwest's website has since gone live as well.Southwest is reportedly waiting for federal regulatory approvals as certification is required for flights over long distances of water, multiple outlets reported. Extra pilot training and stringent maintenance and replacement of parts are required for flights making such a trip.The news comes on the heels of the airlines said ticket sales have dipped in the wake of a fatal accident aboard a Southwest flight earlier this month. 991

A 20-year-old woman, who in August was pronounced dead and later found to be breathing in a Detroit funeral home, died on Sunday, an attorney representing the woman's family said.Timesha Beauchamp died Sunday of brain damage at Children's Hospital, Fieger said."Our whole family is devastated. This is the second time our beloved Timesha has been pronounced dead — but this time, she isn't coming back," Beauchamp's family said in a statement.On Aug. 23, Southfield Fire Department paramedics responded to a home after receiving a call about an unresponsive woman. When they arrived, the department's fire chief said Beauchamp wasn't breathing. After about 30 minutes of standard revival efforts, first responders determined that Beauchamp was deceased."Because there was no indication of foul play, as per standard operating procedure, the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office was contacted and given the medical data. The patient was again determined to have expired and the body was released directly to the family to make arrangements with a funeral home of their choosing," the chief said in a statement in August.Hours later, the staff at the James H. Cole funeral home realized Beauchamp was still breathing. (KGTV) — President-elect Joe Biden is set to select California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to lead the pandemic response as Health and Human Services secretary.According to Associated Press sources, Becerra will be nominated to lead the department, which will require confirmation. If confirmed, he will be the first Latino to lead the department.The HHS is a -trillion-plus agency with 80,000 employees and oversees several issues including drugs and vaccines, medical research, and health insurance programs. During his time as AG, Becerra has been an advocate of the Affordable Care Act.Biden has been under increasing pressure to expand racial and ideological diversity in his Cabinet and other top jobs, the AP reported.
