CHANGSHA, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has warned that China's macro economic control policy is facing mounting difficulties with the severity of the international financial crisis and the unpredictable nature of the global economic recovery."China's current economy remains good, but the domestic and international environment is extremely complicated," Wen said while addressing a symposium held Saturday in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province.The symposium, which was presided over by Premier Wen, was thrown to feature economic situation in three provinces of Hubei, Hunan and Guangdong.At the symposium, Wen reiterated the government's stance in maintaining the continuity and stability of macro economic policies, and making these macro policies more flexible and targeted.Wen said the government would "work to promote stable and relatively fast domestic economic growth, restructure the economy and manage inflation expectations to ensure the government's goals for 2010 are met."The government would endeavor to resolve long-term structural problems while targeting urgent issues, Wen said.Before the symposium, Wen also inspected flood prevention and control efforts in parts of Hunan Thursday, and moved on to Changsha, the provincial capital, to visit a number of other venues including companies ranging from machinery, outsourcing to animation companies Friday.While inspecting the companies, Wen enquired about their business, employment and social security, and encouraged them to step up innovation."An internationally competitive enterprise needs products of the best quality, world-leading patent technologies and generations of excellent staff," Wen said when talking with employees in Sany Group, a Changsha-based leading Chinese engineering machinery manufacturer.Wen talked with employers and job hunters at a job market in Changsha. BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of National Defense (MOD) Friday introduced its new spokesmen, Senior Colonel Geng Yansheng and Colonel Yang Yujun, to domestic and foreign media during a press tour to an engineering regiment of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).Geng, 50, and Yang, 40, have become the ministry's third and fourth spokesmen.Their appointment came ahead of the PLA's founding anniversary on Aug. 1. Their two predecessors, Hu Changming and Huang Xueping, have been transferred to other jobs in the ministry.Geng told Xinhua that the MOD plans to hold regular press briefings, since 16 other ministries have done so.About 140 reporters, photographers and cameramen from home and abroad visited the engineering regiment building in southern suburban Beijing, watching dozens of soldiers demonstrating a mock rescue operation at a building which was "reduced" to rubble in a quake.Founded in 1964, the engineering regiment trains rescue members for the China International Search and Rescue (CISAR), which was established in 2001 with its personnel drawn from the China Seismological Bureau and the General Hospital of the Armed Police Force.The CISAR has completed six domestic rescue operations in Xinjiang, Qinghai and Sichuan, and six international rescue missions in Algeria, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia and Haiti.After watching the simulation training, many reporters held interviews with the CISAR members and enquired as to how they managed to work in the face of big disasters."I felt deeply sad and hopeless when someone died in front of me after the quake," said Gao Yansheng, a 19-year-old CISAR member, who took part in the Yushu earthquake search and rescue operation in April.Another CISAR member, whose name was not given, said he was "astonished and also anxious" during the Sichuan earthquake rescue work in 2008.Liu Xiangyang, deputy director of the CISAR, said in an interview with Xinhua that CISAR members became physically and psychologically stronger after going through the Sichuan earthquake rescue work.CISAR members needed to learn more about earthquakes and put up with more complicated disaster situations, Liu added."It will become a routine activity of the PLA to open its military bases for the media interaction beginning around August 1," said Senior Colonel Li Zhen, vice director with the MOD's International Communication Office. BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- As a large number of new sites were discovered during the most recent survey of national cultural relics, Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong called for the careful filing and scientific preservation of all survey results on Tuesday.Liu made the remarks at a meeting of the third national cultural relics survey, which is expected to pave the way for improved rules on the protection of cultural relics.During the meeting, Liu hailed the current progress of the survey and extended her greetings to all who are working to preserve the nation's sites of cultural relics.Liu said the cultural relics survey is the foundation for protecting and putting to use the country's cultural relics in a scientific way, and is also a key part of evaluating the country's soft power.According to Liu, the on-spot investigation phase has finished, and "a large number of varied, new cultural relics sites" were discovered across the country.Though without overall figures, Liu revealed that newly discovered sites covered fields such as the history of the Party and the period of the revolution, the industrial heritage and traditional rural architecture, as well as others fields of study.The survey, which began in April 2007, will continue until December 2011.

HARARE, July 7 (Xinhua) --The eighth session of the Zimbabwe/ China joint permanent commission ended in Harare on Wednesday with a pledge by the two countries to widen and deepen economic cooperation.The two countries discussed ways of enhancing various cooperation projects already being implemented and new ones in the energy, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, tourism and water sectors.An agreement was also signed for China to provide 1.5 million U. S. dollars to the China-Zimbabwe Friendship Hospital in Mahusekwa, Mashonaland East Province, for medical equipment and drugs.The hospital is part of the several projects that include two primary schools and an agricultural demonstration center that China is constructing in Zimbabwe as part of the eight measures agreed to at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in 2006 in Beijing.Other support from China includes a 200 million U.S. dollars buyer's credit facility extended by the China Exim Bank for procurement of agricultural inputs to boost food production in Zimbabwe.Zimbabwean foreign minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi praised China for setting a shining example to other world donors by honoring pledges it made to assist Zimbabwe under the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation.Mumbengegwi noted that under the eight measures enunciated by Chinese President Hu Jintao at the FOCAC heads of state summit in Beijing in 2006, projects earmarked for Zimbabwe are now at various stages of completion.The Chinese government has also dispatched 10 agricultural experts and 23 volunteers to buttress the cooperation."By successfully implementing these measures, China has set a shining example for other donors and international cooperating partners who do not always honor their commitments," Mumbengegwi said at the opening of the eight session.He said Zimbabwe is also willing to learn and benefit from China's experience and expertise in the economic sphere, which has transformed the country into a global economic powerhouse."Zimbabwe will, therefore, welcome Chinese investment and is ready to discuss during the joint commission specific projects in the energy, agriculture, manufacturing, transport, tourism and water sectors," he said.Mumbengegwi thanked China Exim Bank for extending the 200 million U.S. dollars buyer's credit loan repayment period from five to eight years, saying this would give Zimbabwe the breathing space to turn around its economy and enhance capacity to repay loans extended by China."The payment of the arrears and extension of the repayment period on the 200 million U.S. dollars buyer's credit loan have paved the way for increased cooperation between Zimbabwe and China, " he said.While hailing China as a good example of a reliable and dependent donor partner, Mumbengegwi said he hoped the Asian country will similarly implement new eight measures announced by Premier Wen Jiabao at the fourth ministerial conference of FOCAC held in Egypt last year.He said the projects that have been identified for implementation in Zimbabwe are in critical sectors of energy, water, health, education, agriculture and social infrastructure.
