SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man fired as many as five shots at a parked car in San Ysidro Wednesday morning, San Diego Police said.The shooting happened at 7 a.m. at an apartment complex near West San Ysidro Boulevard and Dairy Mart Road, according to officers.No one was hurt by the gunfire.Police said the man surrendered peacefully when they arrived at the scene. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A Hillcrest man is still recovering in the hospital after he says he was attacked, leaving him with a head injury and partial paralysis.Ricky Jackle says he was walking with a friend on Robinson Avenue in Hillcrest October 14.“I was out with a friend of mine. Had a few drinks at The Rail.” According to Jackle, that’s when the assault took place.“Last thing I remember, there was a confrontation between the person I was with and somebody else. I tried to get in the middle of it to stop in. I was pushed on my chest, went backwards and hit my head on the curb. Apparently that’s when I bled out. I heard voices, by friend’s voice behind me,” said Jackle.Jackle says after the incident, his friend fled the scene.In tears, Jackle describes how the assault has changed his life. “I can’t work, I can’t do the things I used to do. I’m scared.”“I don’t think anyone should be attacked or a victim like I was, I don’t think it’s right.”While under observation at the hospital, Jackle began to feel numbness in his hands and arms which resulted in loss of movement in his hands, arms and legs, according to a GoFundMe post.“The injury caused swelling which compressed his spinal cord resulting in loss of movment [sic] and some paralysis,” according to the post.Jackle’s cousin, Derrick Roach spoke about the friend who left Jackle following the attack. “He said the reason I left Ricky is with all the blood I thought he was dead. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A mysterious monolith that appeared in a San Diego parking lot earlier this week is gone, the structure torn down by a group of people in an incident captured on social media Tuesday night. The monolith was in the Scripps Ranch Marketplace parking lot. Similar structures have been popping up all over the country and the world since mid-November. In videos posted to social media, a large group of people can be seen pushing over and then carrying away the shiny, sleek object late Tuesday evening. SDPD told ABC 10News that they did receive a call about the incident but because it's unclear who owns the monolith they weren't able to file a report and there is no ongoing investigation. 718

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A judge decided Friday to place a sexually violent predator in the East County community of Boulevard. Michael Joseph Martinez, 64 has multiple previous convictions including child molestation and lewd and lascivious acts upon a child under 14, according to County Supervisor Dianne Jacob’s office.The judge added Friday that the sheriff’s department will be extra vigilant and security will be heightened.The judge decided to place Martinez at the Department of State Hospitals recommended location of 2135 McCain Valley Road. The schools closest to the address include Clover Flats Elementary School and Jacumba Elementary School, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.A mother of one of the victims from 25 years ago spoke at the hearing saying, “I know that you can’t change the order and I’m glad that there’s going to be very strict ordering, but I hope this doesn’t happen to another child or family.”RELATED: Dianne Jacob slams proposed placement of predatorJacob said the placement would put public safety at risk. Rob Thomas, a Marine veteran and avid surfer, had been kept in custody after Mexican authorities determined he was at fault for a traffic collision that sent four people to the hospital, according to friends and local news outlet Rosarito en la Noticia.Under Mexican law, drivers found at fault in a collision can be detained until they prove they can cover the estimated costs of the crash. Thomas did not have valid car insurance in Mexico, so authorities demanded a cash bond, said longtime friend Mikey “Beats” Beltran. The amount of the bond was negotiated by an attorney representing Thomas, but it could be ,000 to ,000, friends said. “This is without a doubt a traveler’s worst nightmare, ending up in a foreign jail surrounded by people that don’t speak your language,” he said. “They don’t feed the people in detention, and so friends of ours that are down there, they’ve had to feed him daily.”Thomas was in Rosarito on a surf trip.
