FORT STEWART, Ga. – Three soldiers were killed Sunday morning when the vehicle they were riding in was involved in a training accident at the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield. The three 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team soldiers were pronounced dead at the scene and three other soldiers were transported to Winn Army Community Hospital to be treated and evaluated for their injuries, according to the Georgia airfield. The US Army on Monday identified the three soldiers killed during a training accident.The three deceased soldiers are Sgt. 1st Class Bryan Jenkins, 41, of Gainesville, Florida, Cpl. Thomas Walker, 22, of Ohio, and Pfc. Antonio Garcia, 21, of Arizona. All three were part of the 3rd Infantry Division's 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team. Officials say the soldiers were riding in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle when the accident happened. “Today is a heartbreaking day for the 3rd Infantry Division, and the entire Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield community, as we are all devastated after a training accident this morning on the Fort Stewart Training Area,” said Maj. Gen. Tony Aguto, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division. “We are extremely saddened by the loss of three Dogface Soldiers, and injuries to three more. Our hearts and prayers go out to all the families affected by this tragedy."The incident is under investigation and names of the soldiers involved in the accident are expected to be released after next-of-kin are notified. FORT ERIE, Ontario, Canada — Strong winds and a massive amount of ice created an unusual scene along the Niagara River in southern Ontario this past weekend. Video posted on Twitter by the Niagara Regional Police Service in Canada on Sunday shows what is being described as a "ice tsunami.”Strong winds blew the ice over a retaining wall from the river, create a large pile of ice along the road. This forced the Niagara Park Roads Department to close the parkway to protect drivers. Former US President Jimmy Carter was hospitalized on Monday following a fall at his home in Georgia, according to a statement by the Carter Center. Carter, 94, had surgery to repair a broken hip as a result from the fall. He is said to be recovering, the statement read. Carter was leaving to go turkey hunting on Monday when the fall happened. Despite his advanced age, Carter has maintained an active schedule. He continues to hold Sunday School in Georgia, and visits Habitat for Humanity projects across the country. Carter has had some health issues in recent years. In 2015, he had a "small mass" removed from his liver. During his treatment for the liver, he was diagnosed with melanoma on his brain, and would undergo treatment.
