SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Department this October is offering a gun buyback day.Those who sell their guns will be offered either a gift card or a skateboard. Participants will receive 0 for rifles, shotguns and hand guns and 0 for assault weapons, “no questions asked.”There is a limit of two gift cards per vehicle and authorities say all weapons must be operational. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Tierrasanta woman whose toddler died after being discovered in a car was arrested Thursday, San Diego Police said. Police said they waited this long to make the arrest to build evidence for a trial.Twenty-month-old Scarlett was found unresponsive outside the home at 10304 Leary St. on Aug. 5. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the child but were unsuccessful. Police said the girl’s mother, Pricilla Marquez Harris, called them at 12:45 p.m. that day to say she could not find her daughter. Harris later called back to say the girl was in her Nissan Altima and not breathing. Harris was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation the same day, officials confirmed to 10News.Harris is charged with child endangerment, inflicting great bodily injury on a child under the age of five years, and personal infliction likely to produce great bodily injury or the death of a child. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This election fired up voters and one Serra Mesa couple was driven by duty to vote for the first time.Anthony Joiner and Justine Gibson are engaged, and invested in this election."We recently became home owners and in the next few years we'll be parents hopefully so we feel like the future is in our hands and we want to be part of the decisions that are happening," Joiner said, with Gibson adding, "wanted to make it count."FIND YOUR POLLING PLACEJoiner said it felt great to cast his ballot for the first time, "I feel accomplished."Joiner and Gibson filled their ballots out in person. "We wanted the full experience," they said laughing."This year more than ever we felt the importance of voting and having our voices heard, this was primarily driven by the current political environment! I feel like the presidential race without a doubt is important, however equally as important are the local races/props that will have a direct impact on our quality of life," Gibson said.They didn't make their decisions in isolation, "we filled out our ballots together [at home]," Joiner said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - This weekend job seekers are invited to the San Diego Cannabis and Hemp Job Fair & Business Mixer.Organizer Joshua Caruso, with the San Diego Cannabis Farmers Market, says it’s an important milestone one year after recreational marijuana was legalized in California. “We felt that the community really needed to know the brands and dispensaries and hemp companies that are local,” said Caruso. He says it’s the first job fair held in San Diego since recreational marijuana was legalized in the state.Over 30 companies will be at the event, including Golden State Greens located in Point Loma. “We are working professionals, we’re moms and dads and sisters and brothers and aunts and uncles, we’re just trying to shed a positive light on the industry,” said Golden State Greens Manager, Joshua Wilson. Wilson says Golden State Greens is a leader when it comes to complying with new state regulations and that they’re working to combat the negative stigma some still have about the industry.Companies are looking for employees of all skill levels, from managers to drivers. “There’s going to be people in suits, there’s going to be multi-million dollar companies, this is a real industry, this is a very thriving industry,” said Wilson.
