SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A parolee suspected of sexually trafficking a 15- year-old runaway was arrested Wednesday in Sorrento Valley.Joseph Price, 23, was taken into custody in the 9800 block of Pacific Heights Boulevard in San Diego about 9:45 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.Earlier in the morning, detectives contacted the alleged victim and returned her to her home, Sgt. Chase Chiappino said.Price was booked into county jail solely on suspicion of violating conditions of his parole, but sex-trafficking charges are expected to be filed against him, the sergeant said.Details about Price's purported victimization of the girl -- allegations that arose from an investigation by juvenile-services officers and the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force -- were not immediately available. 800

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Nearly half of San Diego County's 1.95 million voters have cast their ballots in the Nov. 3 election, the Registrar of Voters reported Thursday.More than 937,000 ballots had been received as of Thursday, according to the registrar's office.Mail-in ballots were sent to all registered voters in the county on Oct. 5, even those who had not requested one.Ballots received by the registrar's office this week should be processed in time for the first release of election night results to be posted shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday.Voters can return their marked ballot in the pre-paid postage envelope to any U.S. Postal Service office or collection box. The Registrar of Voters office in Kearny Mesa is open for early voting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays for those preferring to vote in person.Voters additionally have the option to drop off their ballot at one of 126 drop-off locations around the county -- including dozens of libraries, YMCAs, county offices and The Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park.Voters also can also cast their ballots at their assigned polling place, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Saturday through next Monday. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - As more people went back to work last month, the region's unemployment dropped to 13.9% in June, 1.3% lower than the previous month, according to figures released Friday by the state Employment Development Department.The coronavirus and its related job loss still looms large over the economy even as some industries begin to resume business. The state's unemployment rate dropped to 15.1% in June, while nationally, the rate decreased to 11.2% in the same time period. The data does not reflect public health orders in July shutting down some industries again. The unemployment rate is likely higher now than the period the data monitored.According to the EDD, total non-farm employment in San Diego County increased by 54,000 jobs between May and June to reach about 1.35 million. It was the first increase in non-farm employment since February. Farm jobs remained steady.The leisure and hospitality sector led the monthly increase by adding 34,700 jobs, 29,900 of which were in the food service and accommodation industries. Arts, entertainment and recreation added 4,800 jobs.The trade, transportation and utilities sector logged 9,500 jobs gained month-over-month, the largest portion of which was in clothing and clothing accessories stores, with 3,900 added jobs.Construction gained 4,100, educational and health services 2,800, other services 2,200, manufacturing 1,900, professional and business services 1,600, financial activities 900 and information 200.Mining and logging employment did not show any gains or losses.The only industry to lose jobs was the government sector, which lost 3,900 jobs in June.Comparing year-over-year, the San Diego region lost 153,600 non-farm jobs and 800 agricultural jobs.
