According to police, Seyed Hassan Kaboli, 32, was arrested around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and booked into jail for forcible rape, torture and false imprisonment. The incident unfolded Monday morning around 10:45 a.m. when police were called to the 9800 block of Caminito Bolsa to investigate a report of a kidnapping. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A security guard at a Clairemont strip mall narrowly avoided a devastating crash Friday.An elderly female driver hit two parked cars, then drove off an elevated parking lot and crashed through a rail. She landed on the street outside the Garfield Shopping Center at 4220 Balboa Avenue and Clairemont Drive.Robert Malone is the security guard for the Goodwill at the mall and was doing rounds of the property.On its way down, the van flew just six feet over Malone’s head.“I look up, I got a van coming at me,” said Malone.The van hit a telephone pole, bringing the pole and the lines down.Malone said up to a dozen men jumped down from the parking lot to pull the driver from the van. The group called 911 and paramedics took the woman to the hospital. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego Midwife is living her dream of opening her own birth center, helping minority women.We met Nikki Helms in July when her GoFundMe was off the charts, raising more than 1,000.She had been a licensed midwife for about a year and wanted to open a birth center. Fast forward to December and her dream is coming true."We've got signage and I stood at the foot of my stairs and cried about that," Helms said filled with gratitude. The community has continued to wrap their arms around her mission."It's really just been amazing and overwhelming, and I feel so blessed," she said wiping a tear from the corner of her eye. "And so grateful and I get teared up every time I start talking about it because it gives me the opportunity to go care for families and you know it just blows my mind."Since July she's raised another ,000 and packages keep arriving on her doorstep with items for the birth center.Her mission is to support women through childbirth and beyond. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman was taken to the hospital after the car she was riding in -- which was believed to have been stolen -- struck a building and two parked vehicles in the El Cerrito area on Friday morning.San Diego police said the collision happened at around 5:15 a.m. in the 5800 block of El Cajon Boulevard.Witnesses told ABC 10News they saw a silver Honda Accord traveling at a high rate of speed, possibly reaching 100 MPH, when it lost control and collided with a building and parked cars, littering the area with debris and car parts.Responding emergency crews pulled a female from the wreckage and took her to the hospital. Police said the woman suffered a broken hip and deep laceration on the back of her leg.One witness said a man, believed to be the driver, was able to get out of the wrecked car and ran away from the scene. He was described as Black, in his 20s, wearing a black sweater and black pants.According to police, as officers and emergency crews responded to the crash, a man called 911 to report his car that was left running outside of a business on El Cajon Boulevard was stolen.Police told ABC 10News they believe the car in the crash was the same vehicle stolen a few blocks away. 1226

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego-based company is ramping up its production of ventilators to meet rising demand around the world. ResMed is primarily known for its devices to aid sleep apnea. However it also has a line of ventilators, which have now become their primary focus.“Our goal is to have 2 to 3 times or more of our global manufacturing capacity in a few weeks, then push beyond that,” said Mick Farrell, CEO of ResMed.Farrell says they began increasing production in January when the outbreak was spreading in China. They’ve now ramped up ventilator and ventilator mask production at all of their facilities. Farrell would not say how many they will be able to provide to American hospitals but said they have been in conversation with the federal government and other suppliers to meet the challenge. “We think between us and our competitors we can keep up on the demand that is needed for ventilators,” said Farrell. On Wednesday, San Diego County health officials said half of the region’s ventilators were currently being used but more were on the way. However, they did not provide specific numbers on how many were available. When asked if he thinks there will be enough, Rob Sills with the county’s medical operations center said, “We don’t know what the final number is going to be, we don’t know how many we are going to need. It is our desire to have enough to judiciously put in place systems so that we can distribute ventilators where they are most needed.” 1488
