CANTON, Ohio -- An Ohio police department is investigating three separate homicides that happened within 24 hours, including the death of a 1-year-old twin boy who was shot and killed while sleeping.Police in Canton, which is about 60 miles south of Cleveland, say the first homicide happened on Tuesday at around 8:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of Louisiana Court Northwest. A 31-year-old man, identified as Ronald Pleasant, was shot and killed at the scene. A 21-year-old man was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.The second homicide happened in the 100 block of Pulley Place SE at around 10:43 p.m. A 20-year-old man, identified as Brandon Bush, and another 20-year-old man, were both shot. Both were transported to local hospitals by the Canton Fire Department. Bush died from his injuries.The third homicide happened at around 2:28 a.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Clarendon Avenue SW. One-year-old twin brothers were shot while sleeping inside a home on Clarendon Avenue. Both were transported by the Canton Fire Department to local hospitals where one of the brothers, identified as Ace Lucas, died. CAMPO, Calif. (KGTV) — Border Patrol agents this week discovered several packages of narcotics stuffed inside a vehicle's gas tank at an East County checkpoint.The agents stopped the vehicle at a Campo border checkpoint at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. During initial questioning, a K-9 officer inspecting the vehicle alerted agents to a possible narcotics.As the K-9 officer further inspected the vehicle, the canine directed agents toward the vehicle's gas tank. Agents say they discovered 53 cellophane packages floating in the gas tank, containing about 58.6 pounds of methamphetamine worth 4,780.The driver, a 47-year-old U.S. citizen, was arrested and the narcotics were turned over to Drug Enforcement Administration. As of Wednesday, Border Patrol officials say they seized more than 2,000 pounds of meth worth more than .6 million. 852

By mid-afternoon on Wednesday, some of the streets of Louisville were filled with demonstrators upset by a Kentucky grand jury decision not to charge two of the officers involved in fatally shooting Breonna Taylor in her home in March.On Monday, the city was placed in a state of emergency with the expectation that protesters and law enforcement would clash. Many downtown businesses were boarded up and police officers were called back from vacations.As of 9 p.m. ET, the city went under a mandatory curfew.Thirty minutes before the curfew order went into effect, two Louisville officers were shot amid the protests. The officers were hospitalized but expected to survive, Louisville Metro Police said.Brett Hankison was the only officer charged among those who participated in the raid on the apartment where Taylor lived. Hankison’s charges, however, were not directly in response to Taylor’s shooting. He was charged with wanton endangerment for firing gun shots at other apartments.Two other officers, Jon Mattingly and Myles Cosgrove, are not facing charges. Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron considered their use of force justified.Hankison, Mattingly and Cosgrove returned fire during the raid after Taylor's boyfriend Kenneth Walker fired at the officers. CARLSBAD, Calif. (KGTV) — Many business owners are paying big bucks to move outdoors and comply with state and county health orders. One business owner in Carlsbad said she had to fork up more than ,500 to provide outdoor dining."They said your option is to pay this or you don't get to go outside," said Annie Rammel, owner of Oak + Elixir in the Carlsbad Village.The City of Carlsbad charges 1 for businesses to move onto sidewalks, but it wasn't that simple for Rammel."We were told that the fee would be 1. That's doable for us; we were willing to spend the money to build a beautiful patio where people felt safe."Rammel said she needed to expand into public street parking spaces to make outdoor dining work because there wasn't enough space on the sidewalk. She saw other cities across the county moving quickly to offer low cost or no cost permits for businesses to do the same. She was hoping Carlsbad would follow suit.The Carlsbad City Council voted to approve moving into public spaces on July 28, and Rammel got a permit days later. That came after four weeks of being shut down and working with the city to find a solution."We didn’t want to just put tables on the concrete that are in parking spots next to cars driving by," she said. "We wanted to create a safe space for customers to feel like they could come in relax."Then, the unexpected happened."We got a phone call from the city saying that we actually needed to pay ,500," she said.The city is charging ,200 per parking space plus extra fees. Rammel requested to utilize four spaces."The fee for a curb café is 1 but also includes ,200 per parking space into a fund that is used to create new parking to compensate for the loss of the parking that is converted into a dining area," said David Graham, the Director of Economic Development and Innovation for the City of Carlsbad. "Allowing one business to remove parking means the loss of convenient parking that the nearby shops, restaurants, offices, and personal care services rely upon to draw customers."Despite the circumstances, Rammel got the permit to use four parking spots and built a deck."I begged and pleaded, 'please can we get a prorated amount, can we do month to month, is there any way you can work with us because you are depleting our cash flow at a time where we desperately need cash flow to survive this,'" she said.She paid the fees in full and spent an additional ,000 to have the temporary deck built."When Governor Newsom tells us we can go back inside, we have to tear it down," she said. "We don't get to keep it."The painful costs during an already difficult time were the only solution to keeping way Rammel's business running."We had to pull that ,500 from our savings," she said. "If we're not serving customers, we're not making profits, and we cannot pay our bills."She said leaders from other cities in the county that have waived permitting costs have personally reached out to her to show support.There may be some hope left."We understand that these are not normal times. (KGTV) -- Four wild mice collected during routine monitoring in the Campo area have tested positive for hantavirus, county health officials say.The mice, that were collected in open space in Campo, included two California mice, one deer mouse, and one brush mouse.The mice brought the total number of rodents that have tested positive for the virus so far this year around the county to 22.Health officials say people are unlikely to be exposed to the virus because rodents generally want to live and nest away from people.The county is also reminding residents that they should never sweep or vacuum up after rodents if they find them living in spaces like homes, sheds, or garages. Instead, people are encouraged to use “wet-cleaning” methods.People are exposed to hantavirus when the urine, feces, and saliva dries and is stirred into the air and inhaled.There is no cure or vaccine for the virus and it is potentially deadly, the county says.See tips from the county below on how to use wet-cleaning methods:Avoid Exposure to Hantavirus· Seal up all external holes in homes, garages and sheds larger than a dime to keep rodents from getting in.· Eliminate rodent infestations immediately.· Avoid rodent-infested areas and do not stir up dust or materials that may be contaminated with rodent droppings and urine.· Clean up rodent droppings and urine using the wet cleaning method described below.Use “Wet-cleaning” Methods to Prevent Inhaling the Virus· Do not sweep or vacuum infested areas.· Ventilate affected area by opening doors and windows for at least 30 minutes.· Use rubber gloves.
