That often-blurred line between the office and home is now a little clearer for one creative teacher.Move over Chip and Joanna Gaines.With advance notice he would not be returning to the classroom because of the coronavirus, Cory Streets got to work on a special summer project.Streets just completed an amazing transformation, turning a storage shed in his backyard into a space dedicated to scholastic achievement - like something straight out of an episode of 'Fixer Upper' on HGTV, on a much smaller budget.“Got a can of mis-tinted paint and a carpet remnant. I’m hoping it’ll be a fun way to break up some of the monotony," said Streets.With a young daughter and a second child arriving in October, Streets found himself with limited spots to set up shop inside his home.“It’ll give me a place to come and work quietly," said Streets.Instead of rakes and shovels, Streets filled the shed with all the tools he needs to help his students grow despite being miles apart.“I wanted to make this a more fun and enjoyable experience for myself, but also for the students," said Streets.The consistency of connecting in this newly-created classroom, which has been dubbed the "Mr. Streets Center for Remote Sheducation," is not only expected to help Streets stay focused; he says it will also do the same for his students.“It’ll feel more comforting, it’ll feel predictable, it’ll feel like a routine," said Streets.Streets said there's a lesson his students can learn from the new workspace and that is you have to make the best of a challenging moment.“We’re gonna have a good time, we’re gonna learn some stuff. TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — The first federal execution in 17 years is on hold after a U.S. judge ordered a new delay in federal executions.Daniel Lewis Lee, of Yukon, Oklahoma, was scheduled to be executed at 4 p.m. Monday at the Federal Correctional Institution in Terre Haute, Indiana.A U.S. district judge ordered a new delay in federal executions on Monday morning. Lee's execution had previously been been suspended late Friday following a decision by the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.The Trump administration immediately appealed, asking a higher court to allow the executions to move forward, according to The Associated Press.Lee is one of four people who are scheduled to be executed at the federal penitentiary in Terre Haute. Students are demanding change after the deadly Florida High School shooting.On Monday, a group of teens from Maryland held a lie-in near the White House to stand with the victims of last week's mass shooting.The group, called Teens for Gun Reform, held the lie-in at 12:15 p.m. between the White House and Lafayette Park. Demonstrators lied on the ground for three minutes to symbolize how long it took the suspected gunman to buy the AR 15 rifle used in the attack.Many students who survived the shooting are now speaking out against gun violence. They are calling for a nationwide student and teacher walkout on March 14 to demand tougher gun laws. There are also talks of an anti-gun violence demonstration in Washington, D.C. and other cities across the country on March 24."My message for the people in office is you're either with us or against us. We are losing our lives while the adults are playing around," said Cameron Kasky, a Marjory Stoneman Douglas high student who survived last week's shooting.  1050

TAMPA, Fla. — George Streets, Jr., is just 10-years-old and he’s somewhat of a boxing phenom.“When I was little, I always wanted to box,” George, Jr. said.His trainer Malcolm Peck has been working with George for about a year.“The determination, the way he processes things, the energy he has is different,” Peck said. “It’s definitely different.”When George was a 2-year-old, he would walk around the house punching everything in his path.“T trained by punching the couch,” he said. “My dad would be asking me what I was doing. I’d be ‘ha, ha, ha, ha’ punching the couch.”“He punched a hole in the side of that couch,” his father George, Sr. added.And, that’s how he got the nickname — Lil Savage. He’s mildly autistic and diagnosed with an extreme case of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Boxing has improved his focus.“Boxing allows you to utilize that energy, stay focused, if you’re not focused and you look to your left or right, you’re going to get hit in the face,” George, Sr. said. “It’s going to hurt pretty bad."“It helps him with his attention span tremendously. His grades have improved. He went from being a D-F student to an A-B student.”Lil Savage trains for about four hours each day. He wakes up a 5 a.m. for conditioning drills and goes to the boxing gym after school.The hardest part for him getting into the ring was finding a trainer willing to work with such a young boxer.“No one wanted to train me because I was a little kid,” George, Jr. said. “But when I showed them I could spar, then they really wanted to train me.”He knows the stakes are high with gloves on in the ring, and he wants to be on top.“My goal is to be the best boxer and be myself.”You can see Lil Savage in action later this month.
