But China's good news is complicated by rapidly developing situations around the world. The WHO Wednesday said the COVID-19 outbreak can be characterized as a "pandemic."
"Today, I have the honor to deliver on behalf of the Chinese government a batch of aid supplies to the Lebanese government for its fight against COVID-19," Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian said at the airport after the arrival of the donation.
By Monday, the mainland had reported a total of 1,639 imported cases. Of the cases, 1,087 had been discharged from hospitals after recovery, and 552 were being treated with 21 in severe conditions. No deaths from the imported cases had been reported.
Wang said that not long ago, Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and reached many consensuses on jointly tackling the epidemic and promoting the China-Britain relations.
Wang stressed that the international community needs to forge a consensus in fighting the epidemic in solidarity under current circumstances.
