MOSCOW, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the Leaders' Summit of the Group of Twenty to be held in St. Petersburg, Russia, in early September and will meet his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin at the summit.
BOAO, Hainan, April 8 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping on Monday met with Vuk Jeremic, president of the 67th Session of the UN general assembly, on the sidelines of the 2013 Boao Forum for Asia being held in south China's Hainan Province.
In a congratulatory video sent to the forum, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon recognized China's great achievements in desert control, while praising the forum for providing a platform for sharing experiences on afforestation and fighting desertification.
"The Chinese government strives to promote the construction of an ecological civilization, and the prevention of desertification is an important part of this," said Wan Gang, minister of science and technology.
Wang said during the meetings, the leaders said that China is an important force in maintaining world peace, stability and development.
