Ohio Republican Gov. John Kasich?says he is "unlikely" to challenge President Donald Trump in 2020 as an independent, but also spent Tuesday in this first-in-the-nation primary state, insisting that he is wide open to any path to the White House that may make sense."Am I going to run as an Independent? No, I'm not even thinking about that," Kasich declared during a lunch time interview with CNN at the famed Red Arrow Diner here."It's unlikely, but when you have options on the table, all options are on the table, right?" Kasich asked rhetorically. When pressed to keep traveling down this hypothetical road, Kasich tried to stop it. 649

Omarosa Manigault Newman, a former White House aide and reality TV star, claims in her forthcoming book that President Donald Trump's re-election campaign offered her a lucrative contract in exchange for her signature on a strict non-disclosure agreement after her ouster from the administration last year, according to an excerpt quoted in The Washington Post.Manigault Newman writes in "Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House" that she turned down the proposal, which would have barred her from the public criticism she has leveled at Trump since her departure. Lara Trump, a campaign adviser and the President's daughter-in-law, extended the offer to Manigault Newman shortly after White House chief of staff John Kelly fired her for "serious integrity issues," according to The Post's excerpts. The Trump campaign declined to comment on Manigault Newman's description of the deal Lara Trump supposedly offered her.White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Friday dismissed the sensational claims in Manigault Newman's book, which hits shelves on August 14."Instead of telling the truth about all the good President Trump and his administration are doing to make America safe and prosperous, this book is riddled with lies and false accusations," Sanders said in a statement. "It's sad that a disgruntled former White House employee is trying to profit off these false attacks, and even worse that the media would now give her a platform, after not taking her seriously when she had only positive things to say about the President during her time in the administration."Manigault Newman's tenure in the White House was marred by drama and intrigue; she generated a series of negative headlines for the administration, including when she attempted to host a photo shoot for her wedding on White House grounds.Although some reports at the time of her departure late last year claimed she tried to storm Trump's residence and protest her firing at the hands of Kelly, Manigault Newman disputes the public account of her dismissal in her book, according to The Post. The former contestant on Trump's reality show, NBC's "The Apprentice," asserts in her tome that Trump later told her he did not know the chief of staff had asked her to leave her post. The controversy created by Manigault Newman's tell-all, which comes out next week, will not be the first time the White House has been forced to contend with sensational claims in a book.Michael Wolff's "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" rocked the West Wing when it hit shelves in January and caused Trump's inner circle to sever ties with Steve Bannon, his former chief strategist. 2673

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - It’s a sight for sore eyes in Oceanside: millions of pounds of badly-needed sand are being dumped on the beaches.Captain David “Skully” Mora runs Sailing Blue Water Charters and relies on the harbor mouth being accessible. He welcomes the dredging."Absolutely excited! Because it just makes it so much safer, we had three boats roll this year,” Mora said. "I like it being at least 20-25 feet, usually where it is, but it's been as shallow as 8-10 on this side of the harbor."PHOTOS: Dredging project underway in Oceanside HarborThe annual spring dredging was canceled. Typically, the work is funded by the Army Corps of Engineers, but they were not able to get the proper permit in time. All summer long, sand built up in Oceanside Harbor, creating dangerous conditions.RELATED: Businesses hurting after spring dredging canceledMora is among those who canceled trips, losing thousands of dollars."I canceled many every week, it was unsafe to go out,” said Mora. The dredging will last two to three weeks and cost the Army Corps of Engineers .5 million.RELATED: Frustration after Army engineers cancel spring dredging 1153

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Neighbors in North County call this "Taking Back Oceanside.""We need to cite, we need to ticket, arrest when possible," said Andrew Andrioff. It's a response to a growing homeless population that's leaving neighbors frightened and frustrated. The San Luis Rey riverbed is covered with needles, tents, trash and shopping carts. Andrioff is behind the movement to change that. He was among dozens of people who addressed city council Wednesday night. RELATED: Oceanside group aims to clean up trash, violence in San Luis Rey riverbedHe says the social services offered in Oceanside may be making the situation worse. "Our concern is that we’re attracting habitual vagrants to Oceanside through these services," said Andrioff. "we don’t want to enable these people to continue to their criminal and drug-addicted lives."Councilwoman Esther Sanchez says the city has three homeless outreach teams but they need more help. "This really is a regional problem, whatever one city does everyone is going to want to go there so we all have to go at the same time," said Sanchez. The problem has only gotten worse since the city is forced to take in more people than it can handle. "Are we going to really be responsible for Orange County cities that are cleaning out the river and giving them one-way tickets to Oceanside?" said Sanchez. "I really think what we should be pushing is a blue ribbon committee, the county, the 18 cities, as well as the state."Recommendations made to the council tonight included declaring an Emergency Shelter Crisis and increasing police enforcement. The Taking Back Oceanside group is set to meet with the chief of police on October 24.  1750
