(KGTV) — A local man is hoping for answers after his mother was found murdered during a girl's trip to Turks and Caicos.Marie Kuhnla, 62, set off on the trip to a Club Med resort with her two friends and fellow public defenders in New York.Rick Kuhnla Jr. told 10news his mother was excited about the trip and recalls pestering his her to take her sunscreen because she got sunburn on a previous trip.Her friends say a few days into their trip on October 14, Marie went to her room to take nap and wasn't heard from again.Her body was discovered in bushes on the edge of the resort days later. Police told her friends she had been strangled. It's difficult for her son to talk about the phone call he received about her death. 760

(KGTV) - The City Council in Solana Beach wants to make it illegal to sell any kind of flavored tobacco within the city."What we're doing right now is a reaction to what is literally an epidemic," says Councilmember David Zito.He says the Council has seen the numbers from the CDC and other health agencies showing a rise in underage smoking, mostly related to the increase in e-cigarettes. That's why they're taking such a drastic step."This is not a safe thing to do and we need to take these kind of precautions," says Zito.Under the proposed ban, stores in Solana Beach wouldn't be allowed to sell any kind of flavored tobacco. That means menthol cigars, flavored hookah tobacco, flavored cigars, e-cigarettes or anything else that has a "distinguishable tast or aroma or both, other than the taste or aroma of tobacco, imparted by a Tobacco Product or any byproduct produced by the Tobacco Product."Right now, the ban would only affect a small handful of stores in the city. The two gas stations within Solana Beach already limit their sales of flavored products to just menthol. There are a few other convenience stores that sell e-cigarettes and other flavored products. A jogger reported the sea lion with a missing tail and gash on its back, washed up on the beach.SeaWorld San Diego experts responded to the area but told 10News the sea lion later died due to the severity of its injuries. They confirmed the female sea lion was bitten by a shark.Lifeguards posted aggressive shark advisories for beachgoers from Cardiff Reef in the north to Seaside State Beach in the south, officials said. There was no immediate word on the type of shark involved. The incident Thursday marks the sixth shark sighting over the last several weeks in the waters off San Diego. Shark sightings several days in a row prompted shark advisories in Del Mar in July. A shark sighting in Coronado also forced lifeguards to post signs warning beachgoers about the presence of sharks.
