SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Cal Coast Academy, a private school in Carmel Valley, has an "ambitious" plan to bring kids back to campus as soon as San Diego gets approval from state and county administrators."When we put our mind to something, we make it happen," says Jan Dunning, the school's founder and principal.Dunning plans to build six large tents on the school's property, similar to tents used at weddings or other large events. Dunning says they've already spent nearly ,000 on the tents. Costs like that make it unlikely that public schools with large enrollments would be able to hold classes outdoors in a similar fashion. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Before Vice President Mike Pence made his way to Coronado, he spent the morning at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel.The Vice President and Second lady stayed there during their San Diego Visit. A few protestors inflated the now well-known "Baby Trump" outside of the hotel; It's possible the Vice President got a look at the giant balloon. "We're hoping that the Vice President sees this and sees that there is resistance here in San Diego," says protestor Will Johnson. The giant balloon was an attention grabber for many who saw it on Park Boulevard. "I knew he was coming to town, but I didn't know he was staying here," says Kate Permenter. Permenter is in town for a convention and staying at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel, saying, "So last night people kind of started freaking out."Outside of the hotel, security checked every car making its way into the garage. Hotel guests say there are dozens of police officers and secret service agents inside of the hotel. "At every entrance, there are cops just kind of staring at you."Dozens of officers escorted the motorcade as the Vice President left downtown this morning. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Community spirit will come alive across nine blocks in Hillcrest this August.The CityFest Street Fair and Music Festival packs Fifth Avenue with bands, DJs, arts and crafts, and food from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Aug. 11.The half-mile-long celebration, known as "Pride-Light" to locals, brings more than 150,000 visitors to Hillcrest every summer. Visitors will be able to enjoy live music, buskers and street performers, and a special headliner on the grand stage throughout the day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Campaign ads against San Diego District Attorney Summer Stephan over a backlog of rape kits to be tested were recently pulled from television.More than a hundred people stood on the steps of San Diego's Hall of Justice, showing support for Stephan, as she blasted her opponent's television campaign ads. The ads were paid for by the Justice and Public Safety PAC, funded by billionaire financier George Soros."We need your help to get the word out, San Diego is not for sale!" SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Country music lovers in Mission Valley are fighting to keep InCahoots from closing at the end of the year. One woman started a petition on change.org in hopes of saving the beloved bar. Former congressional candidate Morgan Murtaugh started the petition on Sunday. She said she has been going to InCahoots for years and was devastated to find out the bar was sold. The owner tells 10News the land was sold and their lease was not extended. The bar’s last day is scheduled for New Year's Eve.RELATED: Beloved country bar InCahoots to close December 31Murtaugh hopes the new landowner will reconsider and let the bar continue leasing the building. If not, she says she plans on fighting any future plans for the use of the building or the land.InCahoots has been in Mission Valley for 26 years.
