The exit provides direct access onto eastbound Friars Road, with a straight shot to SDCCU stadium and the thousands of homes being built that direction. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A six-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after accidentally shooting himself Tuesday night, according to the San Diego Police Department.The incident happened around 8 p.m. in the 4300 block of 52nd St. in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood near City Heights, a few blocks north of Fay Elementary School.San Diego police say the child was playing with the gun when he shot himself in the chest.City News Service, citing information from SDPD Officer John Buttle, reported the boy was in his grandmother's room when he discovered a .22-caliber handgun underneath a mattress.Police say the bullet went through the boy's chest, and the child was conscious and breathing when officers arrived. The boy was taken to Rady Children's Hospital with unknown injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. 827

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - An East San Diego County military wife whose husband is accused of poisoning her with thallium is facing intensive rehabilitation, according to a GoFundMe account in her name.Race Uto, 27, was arrested in March on suspicion of giving his wife Brigida the heavy metal, which is found in rat poison and ant killers.A search warrant obtained by 10News indicated Brigida Uto had been sick since September 2017 and did not know the cause. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A strong series of earthquakes struck Baja California Monday morning, but was felt throughout San Diego, according to United States Geological Survey data.The first tremor,was reported at 8:09 a.m. and was centered in San Vicente, Mexico -- about 93 miles south of San Diego, according to the USGS. The quake registered 4.4-magnitude.The jolt was followed by two more in quick succession at 8:30 a.m. and 8:31 a.m., both registering 5.2- and 5.1-magnitude respectively, USGS reported.No known injuries or damage have been reported.Various people reported feeling the quake all over Southern California, including numerous locations in San Diego, some as far north as Escondido and east in El Centro. 727

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — An Oceanside family is mourning the loss of a beloved father to COVID-19.David Bustamante first started feeling sick during the first week of November."Started with a cold. Congestion, and then a cough in his chest," said his daughter Samantha Bustamante.A few days later, he drove himself to the hospital, received a COVID-19 test, and was sent home. By the time he learned he was positive, his symptoms had gotten worse."He was having trouble breathing, really raspy," Samantha said.Bustamante decided to stay at the home of a friend, who had also tested positive. On the morning of Nov. 13, Bustamante, a father of two grown children, passed away in his sleep, at the age of 64."It’s very hard knowing he’s gone, and it’s heartbreaking ... so quick, suddenly and out of the blue. Very unexpected," said Samantha.Samantha says her father loved his family and loved his work in the inspection process for a new home builder."He was resilient, hard-working, and caring with a big heart," said Samantha.During the pandemic, he kept working. She doesn't know how he contracted COVID-19, but does know he was diligent about wearing a mask."All I can say to people is to be as safe as you can in everything you do ... You just don't know what's going to happen," said Samantha.On Thanksgiving, Samantha will join some extended family is a small get-together, with one fewer place setting"He’s definitely going to be missed.
