Bill Cosby's sentencing hearing is set for September 24 and 25, according to a court order from Judge Steven O'Neill.Cosby was found guilty last month of three counts of aggravated indecent assault for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand at his home in a Philadelphia suburb in 2004.The 80-year-old comedian faces up to 10 years in prison on each count, although the actual sentence is likely to be much shorter."He was convicted of three counts of (indecent assault), so technically that would be up to 30 years," Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said after the verdict. "However, we have to look at a merger of those counts to determine what the final maximum will be."Some legal experts have said they do not think Cosby will spend any time behind bars. His defense team has said it will appeal the guilty verdict, and it is possible that O'Neill will allow Cosby to remain on house arrest until that appeal is resolved. For now, Cosby is not permitted to leave his Pennsylvania home. If he does leave the state for another home, it would have to be arranged ahead of time, and he would have to wear a GPS monitoring device, the judge ruled.Janice Baker-Kinney, who testified that Cosby drugged and raped her in 1982, said he should spend time in prison."I believe that it's essential he spend time in jail, and it wouldn't break my heart to see him spend the rest of his life in jail," Baker-Kinney said after the verdict. In general, judges can take any number of factors into account when issuing a sentence. Cosby's age, his health, the philanthropic work he's done over the last several decades and his lack of prior criminal convictions are all likely to be considered in deciding the sentence.Cosby's guilty verdict was the first criminal conviction of a high-profile celebrity since the rise of the #MeToo movement, which has forced a public reckoning with influential men accused of abusing their power. 1956
Bill Lee, a businessman from Franklin, has won the Republican primary for Tennessee Governor.Lee defeated three other GOP front-runners in a crowded primary field for the nomination, including Rep. Diane Black. Black had the endorsement of Vice President Mike Pence and was widely seen as President Trump's first choice for the nominee.Lee will face former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean in the general election in November. The two will vie to succeed popular Republican Governor Bill Haslam, who’s hitting term limits.Lee is a cattle farmer and chairman of a mechanical contracting, facilities, and home services company. The Republicans' focus on conservative credentials and loyalty to President Donald Trump, including tough talk on immigration, incited in-fighting among some of the candidates about who's not as conservative as they claimed during their campaigns. Each of the four Republican candidates added millions of dollars in personal wealth to their campaigns, amounting to a record-setting total of about million.Karl Dean was elected Nashville Mayor in 2007 then re-elected in 2011.He took a commanding lead early in the night with nearly 80 percent of the vote and saw an even bigger share in Davidson County where he approached 90 percent of the vote.He was one of two well-known names on the Democratic ticket for Governor. Craig Fitzhugh, House Minority leader, was first elected into the state House of Representatives in 1994 and he's has served in the legislature ever since. The third name on the ballot Mezianne Vale Payne. 1612

Boeing has unveiled its newest line of business jets, which the company says will allow VIP travelers to fly nonstop between "any two cities on Earth."The BBJ 777X planes will have a range of 11,645 nautical miles (21,570 km), enabling them to offer the longest commercial flight in the world.Depending on which routes the jets are used on, the new models mean Boeing could wrestle the crown for farthest nonstop travel away from Airbus.Earlier this year, Singapore Airlines resumed its 17-hour flights between London and Singapore on Airbus A350-900 ULR (Ultra-Long Range) jets. But the distance traveled on the record-breaking flights is a mere 9,000 nautical miles (16,700 kilometers), putting it below the range Boeing's new jets are capable of.The planes "can fly more than halfway around the world without stopping, farther than any business jet ever built," the company said in a statement."Our most exclusive customers want to travel with the best space and comfort and fly directly to their destination. The new BBJ 777X will be able to do this like no other airplane before it, redefining ultra-long range VIP travel," Greg Laxton, head of Boeing Business Jets, added at the Middle East Business Aviation Association Show (MEBAA).The jets could be used to connect New York City with Perth in Western Australia, a journey which currently requires a connection and takes more than a day to make. Two versions of the jets have been made, the BBJ 777-8 and 777-9, with the latter offering a slightly shorter range of 11,000 nautical miles (20,370 kilometers) but boasting a larger cabin. The company has released renderings of the plane's interior, although it has not sold any of the planes yet.Other business jets produced by Boeing include the BBJ MAX and high-performance versions of its 787 Dreamliner.Since forming in 1996, Boeing Business Jets has delivered 234 jets on 261 orders. 1909
