SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An Amazon delivery driver was caught on video tossing a package onto a driveway like it was a newspaper, and the customer is not happy about it. “I order books. I’ve ordered Echos. I’ve ordered cameras on Amazon,” Del Cerro resident Yung Jun Kim said. He was worried someone might, one day, steal a package.“I ordered the ring camera to monitor the delivery,” Kim said “The first time the Amazon delivery happened on-camera, the driver drove into the driveway, didn’t even get out of his car, rolled down his window and threw my package onto the driveway."Kim found the package on the porch when he got home. What happened was also caught on video.“It was really great, because my mailman came by about 15 minutes later and he picked it up from the driveway and left it on my doorstep,” Kim said.Kim thinks the Amazon deliver driver threw his neighbor's package as well.“The video showed him pulling into her driveway for about 10 seconds and pulling back out. So, in that time, I don’t think he got out of a car and went into her courtyard and delivered it that way," Kim said. "He probably just threw it on the driveway."This time, Kim’s package was not fragile - but the driver didn't know that. Kim emailed Amazon and complained.“Customer service responded that same day, and they gave me a long apology and said they were going to look into it, which, I don’t know if they did," he said. "They also gave me a credit for my troubles."Kim says he hopes Amazon will get better drivers, because based on the video - they've got at least one with a negative attitude. "It takes very little effort to get out of the car to make a delivery onto a porch," Kim said. 10News reached out to Amazon. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An SUV reported stolen crashed as it fled from San Diego police, killing three of the vehicle’s occupants.At around 11 p.m. Tuesday, police were near the intersection of 24th Street and Island Avenue in Sherman Heights when they spotted a silver 2003 Honda Pilot SUV traveling without its headlights on, before learning that it was reported stolen a day earlier by Chula Vista Police.The driver ran a red light while traveling east on Market Street, according to SDPD. When officers tried to pull the SUV over, the driver sped away towards Interstate 15.Officers lost sight of the vehicle. Moments later, with a police helicopter tracking the SUV, the vehicle lost control and crashed into a pole on Market Street, near Raven Street, in the Mount Hope area.According to police, two of the four people inside were ejected from the vehicle and two others were trapped in the wreckage. Emergency responders took one person to the hospital with injuries considered life-threatening, but they are expected to survive. The driver and two other passengers were declared dead at the scene, police said.No other injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.The initial investigation revealed that none of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts as the vehicle was traveling more than 100 mph just before the crash, police said. 1387

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A successful regular season could mean some end-of-the-year award hardware for members of the San Diego Padres.On Monday, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA) revealed the finalists for National League Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, and Manager of the Year.Manny Machado is among the finalists for National League MVP. The Padres’ star third baseman, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts, and Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman are all in the running for the award.Noticeably absent from the finalists list is Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr., who was considered among the favorites for the MVP award throughout the season.The last Padres player to be named NL MVP was Ken Caminiti in 1996.The NL Rookie of the Year finalists include Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth, Alec Bohm of the Phillies, and Devin Williams of the Brewers.If Cronenworth wins the award, he would be the first Padres ROY winner since catcher Benito Santiago in 1987.The Padres’ first-year manager, Jayce Tingler, was named a finalist for the NL’s Manager of the Year award. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A second person has died and three children remain hospitalized after a fire tore through a Logan Heights home Sunday morning. The family’s oldest son told 10News his mother and father, who he identified as Nicolasa Mayo and Jose Romero, were killed in the fire. His two younger sisters and brother remain in the hospital following the blaze. The 26-year-old says he awoke Sunday morning to find his bed on fire. The man tells 10News he tried yelling at his family to get out of the home. "My dogs were jumping on me, trying to wake me up. I woke up. When I woke up, my bed was on fire. I jumped out of bed and started screaming the house is on fire," said Wilber Romero.The fire started around 4:30 Sunday morning on the 3100 block of Clay Street. "The minute I stepped out of my restroom, my house on the inside felt warm, like really warm. The curtain was open and I looked across the neighbors house was just bursting in flames," said Maria Orona, who lives nearby. According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, firefighters had to go inside the home to pull many of the victims out. One witness who was nearby when the fire started told 10News he could see one of the victims reaching through bars in the windows, unable to escape.At least three fire engines and dozens of firefighters responded to the blaze.At this time, it’s unclear what sparked the fire, but the metro arson strike team was called to the home to investigate.A GoFundMe has been set up for the family to help cover funeral expenses. 1541

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A San Diego police officer shot a man during a response to an emergency call in a Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood Wednesday night, police officials said.SDPD officials said the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of Celtic Court, near Donaker Street. Officials confirmed officers were called to the area after a 911 call was made regarding a domestic violence incident.An SDPD official at the scene said, "The dispatcher could overhear the reporting party and the male on the radio call. She could hear the male talking about wanting to be shot by police officers and there was indication there was firearms inside of the house.”Police said when officers arrived, they found a 61-year-old man and his wife in front their home. When officers approached, the man “produced a revolver from his waistband” and started to draw the weapon towards officers. Officials said one officer fired a single round from his service weapon, striking the man in the torso.The injured man, identified on Friday as Richard Young, was breathing and talking while being taken to a local hospital, police said. Young underwent emergency surgery early Thursday morning, and police said Friday that Young "remains in a local hospital under guard."According to the department, officers recovered the man’s gun at the scene.The officers involved in the incident were placed on administrative leave in light of the investigation, which is being conducted by SDPD’s Homicide Unit.Officials identified the officer involved as Timothy Breck, a five-year veteran of the Department assigned to Northeastern Division.SDPD officials said: “When the Homicide Unit completes their investigation, it will be reviewed by the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office to determine if the officers bear any criminal liability for their actions.The Internal Affairs Unit will conduct an investigation to determine if there were any policy violations, and the Shooting Review Board will evaluate the tactics used by the officers.The Community Review Board on Police Practices will conduct a review of the incident and provide any appropriate recommendations.The Federal Bureau of Investigations and the United States Attorney’s Office will also be monitoring the investigation.” 2282
