NEW YORK — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced new guidance for bars and restaurants statewide Thursday.The governor says bars and restaurants in the state are now only allowed to serve alcohol to those who order food. He also announced that all service at bar tops must only be for those seated six feet apart or separated by physical barriers.Cuomo cited a lack of compliance on social distancing and the wearing of face coverings in bars and restaurants across the state."As we continue our science-based phased reopening, the number of hospitalizations and our rate of positive tests remain steady and low," Cuomo said. "But we need to remember our success fighting this virus is a function of our own actions. Mask wearing, social distancing and hand washing — basic as they may seem — are critical to controlling the spread of this virus. Especially now that we are seeing spikes in cases throughout the country, this is not the time to let up — especially on compliance enforcement. We know the prescription, and we know it works — we just need to be smart and do it."Cuomo's order was met with hesitancy by some local politicians. Erie County Legislature Minority Joe Lorigo said he planned to challenge the order in court."The Governor's announcement that bars and restaurants are no longer able to serve customers unless they order food with drinks is another egregious overreach of power. It is also yet another blow to bars, restaurants, and their employees that have taken multiple financial hits due to COVID-19," Lorigo said. Netflix unveiled a new logo on Monday, and while the changes may not seem visible at first glance, the company says the change will save them millions of dollars.That's because the company's new logo is written in a custom-made typeface, a font that Netflix will be using across it's platform and brand identity.The font, called "Netflix sans," was developed in-house at Netflix and designed in partnership with fount foundry Dalton Maag.Previously, Netflix was using a "Gotham" typeface — a font the company was paying to license. New research shows women are more optimistic about aging and retirement than ever.Jane Lafave is using retirement to follow her passion. She volunteers at a refugee resettlement agency, making sure people are prepared when applying for jobs.Ironically, it took her leaving her job, to be able to do this.“My whole career really was balancing my children and my husband, you know, my work and all that kind of thing,” Lafave says.Lafave spent decades working as a certified public accountant, and she retired at the age of 57.“It was just time,” she says. “I needed more time and space in my life to do things other than work.That led her to the Ignatian Volunteer Corps, which placed her at the African Community Center.For two days a week, she helps refugees adjust to life in a new country.“This is just a great gift for me to serve other people who have had a much harder life than I’ve had,” Lafave says.Lafave isn't alone.A new survey from TD Ameritrade found women are increasingly viewing their retirement years with optimism.“The Women and Aging Survey” found 62 percent of women said retirement will be, "the most liberating phase of my life," and 72 percent said after years of focusing on others, aging finally gives them an, "opportunity to focus on myself." NEW YORK (AP) — Pacific Gas & Electric says its equipment may have ignited the 2018 Camp Fire, which killed 86 people and destroyed an entire town in Northern California.The embattled utility, which filed for bankruptcy protection in January, said Thursday it's taking a .5 billion charge for claims connected to the Camp Fire in its fourth quarter earnings.The cause of the Camp Fire, the deadliest in California history, is still under investigation. But firefighters located the start of the fire near a tower on PG&E's Caribou-Palermo transmission line. PG&E says that transmission line lost power right before the fire and was later found to be damaged."We recognize that more must be done to adapt to and address the increasing threat of wildfires and extreme weather in order to keep our customers and communities safe," said John Simon, interim CEO of PG&E, in a statement. "We are taking action now on important safety and maintenance measures identified through our accelerated and enhanced safety inspections and will continue to keep our regulators, customers and investors informed of our efforts."PG&E also recorded a new billion charge related to the 2017 wildfires in Northern California, saying it still estimates it is facing wildfire liabilities in excess of billion.Citing extraordinary challenges from wildfires, PG&E's management concluded the circumstances "raise substantial doubt about PG&E Corporation's and the Utility's ability to continue as going concerns."PG&E also said there was an outage and downed wires in another location, called Big Bend, that morning.
